Serie A Highlights: Verona 1-1 Fiorentina

Hellas were missing suspended Giangiacomo Magnani and Pietro Ceccherini in defence, with Antonin Barak still not fully fit. Nikola Kalinic, Koray Gunger, Gianluca Frabotta and Pawel Dawidowicz remained on the treatment table. Cristiano Biraghi sat out a ban for the Viola, with Erick Pulgar, Bartlomiej Dragowski and Matija Nastasic unavailable.

Darko Lazovic drilled wide for the hosts before they took the lead with Kevin Lasagna springing the offside trap on a Gianluca Caprari through ball to fire in at the near post.

The pitch was not in good condition, causing players to slip and slide. Miguel Veloso fell, allowing Giacomo Bonaventura to burst in and see his shot blocked by Bosko Sutalo. Moments later at the other end, Igor slipped on the edge of his own penalty area and Giovanni Simeone failed to make the most of it.

Gaetano Castrovilli saw his shot charged down and Dusan Vlahovic’s acrobatic attempt was off target, while Riccardo Saponara was forced off after an opponent accidentally trod on his hand.

Vlahovic fired over from a very tricky angle, sent through by Alfred Duncan, and Fiorentina finally got their equaliser with a splendid Castrovilli diving header on Aleksa Terzic’s cross from the left.

Verona almost won it with the last kick of the game, but Pietro Terracciano was equal to the Martin Hongla scorcher.
