Sassuolo had a lightning start on the Laguna and their victory never seemed in doubt, despite a late parried Mattia Aramu penalty.

Watch the highlights here.

Serie A Highlights: Fiorentina 1-1 Verona

The Lagunari had to do without Luca Lezzerini and Tyronne Ebuehi, while Maxime Lopez sat out a ban for Sassuolo, with Filip Djuricic and Pedro Obiang still out of action.

It was the perfect start for the visitors, because within 88 seconds Giacomo Raspadori had burst forward, a dummy sent one of the three defenders to ground and he drilled in at the near post from nine yards.

Sassuolo continued to pour forward, Sergio Romero parrying when Domenico Berardi’s slide-rule pass sent Hamed Junior Traore clear.

The Neroverdi also received a penalty following the VAR on-field review for Mattia Aramu’s handball on a Berardi free kick. Berardi converted the spot-kick himself, even if Romero did get a hand to it.

Luca Fiordilino had the ball in the net for Venezia, but was clearly offside at the time. Instead, Sassuolo received another penalty when Romero clashed with Berardi, although the Scamacca pass seemed to be going out of play and he wouldn’t have got there. Nonetheless, Scamacca converted by blasting down the centre.

Venezia did get one back, Thomas Henry’s glancing header from six yards on an Ales Mateju cross from the right.

It was almost 2-3 when Andrea Consigli flew to fingertip a Mateju header out from under the bar on a corner.

Sassuolo also had the ball in the net for a fourth time, but Traore was offside on the Berardi assist.

The hosts did not give in, Fiordilino thinking he surely had to score, but the finish was deflected wide by Ferrari. At the other end, Romero palmed a Traore effort round the upright.

Just as Venezia were trying their hardest at a comeback, Michael Svoboda tripped Raspadori in the box and Berardi converted Sassuolo’s third penalty of the game.

David Okereke had the ball in the net for 2-4, but again the offside flag was up and confirmed by VAR.

Nsame was brought down by Kaan Ayhan, but there was no consolation for Venezia, as Mattia Aramu’s weak penalty was saved at the near bottom corner by Consigli.

Raspadori 2 (S), Berardi pens 17, 71 (S), Scamacca pen 29 (S), Henry 34 (V)
