Serie A Highlights: Udinese 1-1 Verona

Hellas surprisingly rested Giovanni Simeone after his four-goal haul against Lazio. Gerard Deulofeu was still sidelined for Udinese, joined at the last minute by Ignacio Pussetto, but Roberto Pereyra returned from suspension.

It took barely three minutes to break the deadlock, as Isaac Success marked his first Serie A start with a goal. He ran at defenders, cut inside and placed his finish into the bottom corner with the inside of the right boot.

Bram Nuytinck thought he’d doubled Udinese’s lead, but his free header on a corner was spectacularly saved by Lorenzo Montipò.

Walace saw his strike deflected wide, then there was chaos on an Udinese corner. Montipò managed to palm the Beto header onto the upright, it was put back in and Nahuel Molina’s ferocious strike was charged down by Marco Davide Faraoni’s face on the line.

Pawel Dawidowicz threw himself in the path of a Beto half-volley, then Molina fired over after combining with the Portuguese striker.

Roberto Pereyra’s curler drew an acrobatic save out of Montipò, but somewhat against the run of play, Verona received a soft penalty for Rodrigo Becao’s tackle on Antonin Barak, as Pereyra got the ball first, then Becao caught the man. After a very long check for offside, the spot-kick was confirmed and Barak converted against his old club.

After hanging on throughout the game, Verona almost won it at the death with Simeone’s turn and strike testing Silvestri.
