Juventus had the job done by half-time in Udine with Federico Chiesa, a Dusan Vlahovic penalty and Adrien Rabiot header.

The visitors had Moise Kean and Mattia De Sciglio injured, plus Leonardo Bonucci frozen out pending a transfer, so Federico Chiesa was used as a striker. Udinese missed Gerard Deulofeu, Simone Pafundi, Enzo Ebosse, Kingsley Ehizibue and Adam Masina, with Lazar Samardzic on the bench after his move to Inter sensationally collapsed this week.

It took under two minutes to break the deadlock, as Dusan Vlahovic won it back in midfield and set up Chiesa to drill it low between Jaka Bijol’s legs from the edge of the box.

Marco Silvestri used his legs to deny Andrea Cambiaso’s angled drive, but Juve were given a harsh penalty when Alex Sandro’s cross was charged down by the trailing hand behind Festy Ebosele’s back. Vlahovic stepped up and sent Silvestri the wrong way to convert.

Walace blasted just over the bar from distance and Florian Thauvin stung Wojciech Szczesny’s gloves on the counter-attack, but Juve added a third in first half stoppages when Chiesa inspired with a back-heel flick, Andrea Cambiaso’s cross found Adrien Rabiot at the back post to cushion it over the line with his forehead.

Thauvin’s deflected curler skimmed the far top corner and Sandri Lovric blasted wide too, while Lovric should’ve done better nodding a Samardzic cross wide and Beto ballooned over from a promising position.

Samuel Iling Junior’s header was over from a Weston McKennie cross, while Vlahovic’s diving header was disallowed for the Iling offside position.

Szczesny kept the clean sheet with a brave double save on Perez and the Lorenzo Lucca follow-up.
