Torino dominated this match, hit the woodwork three times and forced several saves, yet were caught out by Giacomo Raspadori in the final minutes as Sassuolo snatched a point.

Serie A Highlights: Torino 1-1 Sassuolo

This was a head-to-head in mid-table for the opportunity to close on the European places. Andrea Belotti and Mohamed Fares were injured, with Ola Aina at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Neroverdi welcomed back Domenico Berardi, but were still missing Filip Djuricic, Matheus Henrique and Junior Hamed Traore.

Antonio Sanabria failed to make the most of the chance when sent through by Dennis Praet, but he made no mistake on the second opportunity.

Josip Brekalo’s cross was nodded down at the back post by Wilfried Singo for a Sanabria header from six yards.

Sanabria almost had another, but was denied by Andrea Consigli’s legs with a great reaction save.

Singo was offside when knocking down a ball over the top for Sanabria to come sliding in, then Rolando Mandragora’s rocket from distance smashed against the upright with the goalkeeper well beaten.

Sanabria also rattled the frame of the goal with a header after the restart on a free kick, then turned over the bar after losing his balance on another opportunity created by Brekalo.

Consigli again kept the scoreline down by fingertipping a Bremer header onto the crossbar, while another totally free header from the defender on a corner went over.

As we’ve seen so many times with Toro in recent years, their absolute domination didn’t translate to points and they were caught on the counter in the final minutes. Domenico Berardi ran forward from midfield, saw one pull-back from the by-line blocked by Ricardo Rodriguez, but managed the second time for Giacomo Raspadori to control and score from eight yards.

  1. Both teams were at one point hyped to get to top 6 to lose next 2 games
Exactly the definition of solid mid teams. Serie A really is more entertaining
