Torino were held to yet another stalemate, this time by Genoa with Andrea Pinamonti cancelling out the Morten Thorsby own goal, as Cesare Casadei made his debut.

The Granata were on a curious run of form, unbeaten since December 21, but also winning just once in that six-round run. Ali Dembele returned from suspension, with Ivan Ilic on the verge of a transfer, Alieu Njie, Duvan Zapata, Perr Schuurs and Emirhan Ilkhan long-term absentees. New signings Cesare Casadei, Cristiano Biraghi, Eljif Elmas and Amine Salama were on the bench. Genoa had Koni De Winter banned, with Maxwel Cornet, Honest Ahanor and Ruslan Malinovskyi out of action, plus Mario Balotelli frozen out.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Nikola Vlasic stung Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s gloves in the opening minutes, then tested the goalkeeper with an angled drive too after the Che Adams counter-attack.

Toro were forced into an early change, as Adrian Tameze limped off with a left ankle problem, while Borna Sosa charged down the finish as Vitinha started a run from his own half and Yann Karamoh blasted over from a promising position.

The deadlock was broken with the last kick before half-time, as a Valentin Lazaro corner was whipped into the crowd and Morten Thorsby got the last touch, nodding into his own net.

Stefano Sabelli made a crucial interception on what would’ve been an Adams tap-in and Lazaro’s half-volley was straight at Nicola Leali.

Adams hit the side-netting on a smart Vlasic disguised pass, but Genoa finally responded when substitute Alessandro Zanoli ran into the box and saw his shot crucially charged down by Guillermo Maripan from eight yards.

It was a warning and moments later Genoa equalised, as Saul Coco got it all wrong playing out from the back to gift Junior Messias, who allowed Andrea Pinamonti to blast into the near top corner.

Torino introduced Casadei and Cristiano Biraghi for their debuts in the final 20 minutes. The former Chelsea midfielder almost scored a winner in stoppages, nodding a corner wide of the far post.

There was more controversy when Adams and especially Antonio Sanabria had penalty appeals in the same move, Sabelli seemingly tugging the striker’s shirt, but the referee waved play on and VAR opted not to intervene.
