Serie A Highlights: Torino 0-3 Roma

This means that Fiorentina and Atalanta will battle for seventh place, which is valid for the Conference League, as Roma and Lazio qualified for the Europa League.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was injured, with Chris Smalling, Rick Karsdorp and Nicolò Zaniolo not fully fit. Toro missed Gleison Bremer and Armando Izzo, but it may well have been Andrea Belotti’s final appearance for the club.

The first real chance fell to Marash Kumbulla on a corner, his header palmed out from under the bar by fellow Albania international Etrit Berisha.

Belotti only blasted wide of the side-netting, but Roma took the lead with a well-worked goal. Josip Brekalo made the initial error gifting it to Lorenzo Pellegrini, but Tammy Abraham still had a lot of work to do, turning Tommaso Pobega inside out and passing calmly into the net from eight yards.

Toro shot themselves in the foot again for the second goal, as Ricardo Rodriguez’s horrible back-pass made it inevitable Berisha would catch Abraham for a penalty. The Englishman converted himself with a powerful yet central spot-kick.

Toro made a triple change at half-time and Pobega nearly got a goal back with his strong run from midfield, forcing a save from Rui Patricio at the near post, while Belotti nodded a corner wide.

Berisha got down to fingertip Jordan Veretout’s angled drive round the far post after another lazy misplaced midfield pass.

Marko Pjaca shook off two defenders only to then curl the finish off target. Zaniolo came off the bench for a late cameo and immediately won a penalty when wrestled to the ground by Alessandro Buongiorno, but this time Pellegrini converted the spot-kick.

There could’ve been a fourth, but Stephan El Shaarawy went for glory rather than passing to Abraham and forced a save.
