Fiorentina made it seven official wins in a row when Moise Kean pounced on a double defensive error, as both the Viola and Torino also rattled the woodwork.
The Viola were on sparkling form, welcoming Kean back to the starting XI, missing Albert Gudmundsson and Marin Pongracic. Toro were struggling after losing five of their last six official matches, with Duvan Zapata, Perr Schuurs, Zanos Savva, Emirhan Ilkhan and Ivan Ilic on the treatment table.
See how it unfolded on the Liveblog.
Luca Ranieri made a decisive sliding block on the Che Adams counter-attack, as did Pietro Comuzzo on the Marcus Pedersen cross-shot.
Torino’s injury crisis intensified even more, losing Adams to a muscular issue after just 16 minutes.
Dodo blasted over from the edge of the area, but Fiorentina took the lead when pouncing on a terrible set of errors. Ranieri’s long ball over the top was allowed to bounce twice, Kean muscling Guillermo Maripan aside to prod it into an empty net past the on-rushing Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.
Maripan had the ball in the other goal moments later, but was flagged offside getting his head to the Samuele Ricci free kick.
Adrien Tameze blasted over from the edge of the box on a Pedersen cross, as did the Tonny Sanabria acrobatic bicycle kick, while Nikola Vlasic’s finish was too weak to trouble David de Gea.
Torino’s best chance to draw level was on 70 minutes, as Pedersen ran onto the through ball and cut inside Robin Gosens only to bend the angled drive around De Gea with the inside of the left foot, hitting the far post.
Fiorentina also rattled the woodwork soon after, as Rolando Mandragora came on against his old club and almost scored with his first touch, curling the free kick onto the upright.
Dodo came close in stoppages, kept out by Milinkovic-Savic’s legs when one-on-one.
