According to several reports in Italy, Serie A stadiums could increase crowds to 50 per cent capacity in 2021-22.

Lega Serie A is pushing for stadiums to re-open, even if just partially, to help clubs financially.

Serie A clubs have lost over €1.2 billion since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, due to games played behind closed doors and drops in sponsorship revenues.

During the unveiling of the fixture list for the 2021-22 Serie A campaign, President Dal Pino urged the Government to open stadiums at full capacity, but it’s unlikely his request is fulfilled.

However, according to and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Government could allow 50 per cent capacity at stadiums for the new season.

Vaccinated people could receive a green pass to access stadiums once the Serie A campaign begins on August 22.

Talks between the parties involved are underway for weeks, but the Government must keep an eye on the rise of COVID cases in the country, mainly due to the spread of the Delta variant.
