Tavecchio is among those leading the charge to have goal-line technology introduced in Italy, especially as it was already used successfully in the 2014 World Cup and the Premier League this year.
“In February we will have the first answers,” declared FIGC President Tavecchio at a sport and business event in Treviso.

Tavecchio is among those leading the charge to have goal-line technology introduced in Italy, especially as it was already used successfully in the 2014 World Cup and the Premier League this year.
“In February we will have the first answers,” declared FIGC President Tavecchio at a sport and business event in Treviso.
“If all the big Italian stadiums had this technology, the total cost would not be superior to €4m, against the television rights revenue worth €1.2bn.”
The head of the referee’s association had insisted the technology would be “a waste of money” due to the presence of goal-line officials.
However, several recent incidents of ‘phantom goals’ have raised the profile of the problem once again.
