Following a weekend of superb goals and outstanding saves in Serie A Dave Taylor picks his best XI from Week 7.

Andrea Consigli [Sassuolo]

Could do nothing about the goal but pulled off a magnificent double save from Fernando Llorente and Roberto Pereyra. Later kept Sassuolo in the game with his bravery, especially his two fabulous reaction saves from Paul Pogba and Carlos Tevez’s follow-up. Determined.

Angelo Ogbonna [Juventus]

Always alert and precise in his tackles while also causing trouble up front and exposed the usually dangerous Domenico Beradi and Nicola Sansone like a pair of nude lovers caught in the flashlight of an enraged husband. Dominant.

Stefan de Vrij [Lazio]

The Dutch defender was an absolute dynamite and in total control throughout, displaying some excellent positioning and making dynamic interceptions. Never gave a centimetre and he simply denied the Viola forwards any space. Unyielding.

Kalidou Koulibaly [Napoli]

Held a determined Inter at bay when they pressed hard, making eight crucial clearances and although he had the least touches, he made most of them count. Never backed away and a real reference point for the whole defence.  Concrete.

Jose Callejon [Napoli]

The Spaniard’s brilliant balls and dazzling dribbling were one of the few highlights of Napoli’s game as he scored a late brace. Although both strikes were stunning his second was awesome as he side-footed a lethal volley home. Brilliant.

Senad Lulic [Lazio]

An impressive performance by the Bosnian ace who switched roles at will. Was always impressive and seemed to engage another gear when he moved into the middle, marrying work-rate with undoubted skill, especially when scoring at the death. Inspiring.

Antonio Candreva [Lazio]

Showed he meant business with two powerful shots in the opening quarter before setting up the first goal. Continued to be at the heart of Lazio’s attacks and duplicated his assist for the second goal with another superb pass. Integral.

Paul Pogba [Juventus]

Totally in control and his every ball and run was as potent as a full on Roy Keane death stare. Worked furiously and screamed home a fabulous goal into the top left-hand corner, from outside the area. Omnipresent.

Keisuke Honda [Milan]

Forever probing like an aggressive Brazilian Wandering Spider his venomous skills saw him twice traumatise Verona. Springing to score his deadly opener with a curling strike his second was ice-cool pure poison as he penetrated from close up. Deadly.

Simone Zaza [Sassuolo]

Got a well-deserved goal after his determination offered him a second chance from eight yards and making no mistake he slotted it home confidently. Not overawed by Serie A’s best defence the youngster eagerly and consistently found space. Outstanding.

Francesco Totti [Roma]

No Totti, no party, as the vet rolled back the years, setting up one goal and converting a penalty with ease, elegance and authority. Never allowed the visitors a moment’s rest and his precise passes were a joy to behold. Universal.

Special Mentions: Filip Djordjevic [Lazio], Danilo Avelar [Cagliari], Hernanes [Inter], Dodo [Inter], Bruno Peres [Torino], Andrea Bertolacci [Genoa], Paulo Dybala [Palermo], Giuseppe Rives [Torino], Giancarlo Gonzalez [Palermo], Adem Ljajic [Roma]
