In the week that Napoli moved to the top of the table after both Juventus and Roma lost, Dave Taylor selects his top XI from Week 4.

Gianluigi Donnarumma [Milan]

Once again Milan’s last line of defence stood up to the task and pulled off a handful of significant saves including an outstanding one that denied Luca Torriera. If Milan manage to achieve something this term a lot will be down to their tenacious teenager. Exceptional.

Fabrizio Cacciatore [Chievo]

Gianluigi Donnarumma [Milan]

Once again Milan’s last line of defence stood up to the task and pulled off a handful of significant saves including an outstanding one that denied Luca Torriera. If Milan manage to achieve something this term a lot will be down to their tenacious teenager. Exceptional.

Fabrizio Cacciatore [Chievo]

Arguably the pick of the bunch with his darting runs into dangerous areas down the right flank. It was on one of these runs that saw him finally rewarded for his efforts throughout when he glided in from the right to slot home Lucas Castro’s cross from six yards. Resolute.

Miranda [Inter]

The Brazilian was on top form making several important tackles, clearances and interceptions with power and aggression. It was this overall play and the dynamic partnership that is evolving with Jeison Murillo that helped keep Juve at bay. Steadfast.

Gabriel Paletta [Milan]

Had to be and was wide-awake, plus he had the added responsibility of covering for a sometime indecisive Alessio Romagnoli. Made several critically, crucial interventions including a decisive slide tackle on Fabio Quagliarella and as good as won the points for the visitors. Vigilant.

Stefan Radu [Lazio]

The 29-year-old Romanian had all exits covered and was solid throughout the game. Despite a yellow card he continued to push forward and was in the right place to nod home from close up for the second goal. Unyielding.

Jose Callejon [Napoli]

It was another scintillating show from the Spaniard, who scored the opener with a cushioned header after blindsiding a defender. Totally aware of his positioning he was always a ready outlet in both attack and defence. Sparkling.

Sergev Milinkovic-Savic [Lazio]

The 21-year-old had a superb game, scored and brought menace to Lazio’s midfield. Always physical in his actions, his well-taken goal came after Felipe Anderson’s excellent cross saw him out jump a defender to nod home. Determined.

Ever Banega [Inter]

A relentless thorn in the side of the Juve defence consistently testing them with a series of passes, crosses and shots. In the second half it was his superb corner that provided the assist for the equaliser. Persistent.

Arkadiusz Milik [Napoli]

A match-winning performance from the sub who changed the game with his first touch. After collecting the defence-splitting pass from Marek Hamsik he looped the ball over the onrushing keeper to score Napoli’s second before finishing Bologna off with a screamer from 25 yards. Brilliant.

Marco Borriello [Cagliari]

Scored a brace with the opening goal struck home with his first touch after just eight minutes. Always on top in his battles with his former colleagues in the visiting defence and scored his second from a free kick just outside the box. Excellent.

Mauro Icardi [Inter]

Menaced the visitors throughout before scoring the vital equaliser when he out-jumped the Juve defence at a corner, to head home. And like a duck on a dune bug he consistently pecked away before producing a sublime assist for the winner. Outstanding.

Special mentions: Gary Medel [Inter], Keita Balde Diao [Lazio], Lorenzo Insigne [Napoli], Piotr Zielinski [Napoli], Valter Birsa [Chievo], Alfred Duncan [Sassuolo], Marek Hamsik [Napoli], Carlos Bacca [Milan], Milan Badelj [Fiorentina].
