Made a series of superb saves, especially the first half shot from Pablo Osvaldo’s right-foot from 12 yards. Under some pressure he then saved twice in succession from two strong Francesco Totti shots before stopping Mattia Destro’s close up left-footer. Energetic.
Aleandro Rosi [Parma]
Controlled the hosts very well and got forward earlier in the game to narrowly miss with his right foot. Certainly earned and deserved the only goal of the game as he nodded in after a corner. Enthusiastic.
Nicolas Spolli [Catania]
The 30-year-old Argentine centre-back was cunning, confident and closed down the home forwards at almost every turn. Dominant in the air, he climaxed an excellent performance with the crucial equaliser heading home from close range from a set-piece. Inexorable.
Mehdi Benatia [Udinese” data-scaytid=”15″>Udinese]
Never put a foot wrong. Stopping any danger before it became serious with his anticipation, twice blocking powerful Fabrizio Miccoli strikes. His powers were best seen when he pounced on Dusan Basta’s pass-back for a simple tap-in. Assiduous.
Kevin Constant [Milan]
With a pass accuracy and aerials all touching on average 95 per cent he absolutely coasted, adding his intelligent use of the ball to great effect. Never put a foot wrong and totally solid in defence. Spirited.
Antonio Candreva [Lazio” data-scaytid=”22″>Lazio]
The best player on the pitch with his intelligent running and his consistent driving towards goal. Always an outlet on the right side of the pitch, he devastated Inter’s left flank, fighting for every ball. Zealous.
Marek Hamsik [Napoli]
A Man of the Match performance with some superb dribbles and individual persistence. Scored early in the second half, after being refused a penalty, when he laced the ball into the bottom left hand corner for the first goal. Indefatigable.
Blerim Dzemaili [Napoli]
Another game, another goal for the metronomic Swiss ace. Was at the heart of Napoli’s finest moves and spending just two shots stung the ‘keeper’s hands with the first and scored with his second. Also set up Hamsik’s opener. Unrelenting.
Mathieu Flamini [Milan]
The Frenchman was on top form and involved and inspired the best of Milan’s game. Worked well with Robinho who assisted him for his right-footed shot from close range and he also contributed an assist himself. Persistent.
Edinson Cavani [Napoli]
Coming on like a dashing Prince Valiant, he cut through defenders as if they were mere mists around Camelot. On one charge he earned and converted a penalty with his deadly right foot plus he contributed an assist. Heroic.
Mario Balotelli [Milan]
Could have possibly scored a hat-trick but wasted a good chance early on. However, he soon made up for it with a perfect penalty. Kept on causing problems before screwing Flamini’s pass into the top right hand corner. Unremitting.
