Always determined and fought for every ball. Perhaps a little lax for Lazio’s goal but for the rest of the game he was solid and played a massive part in the vital equaliser. Resolute.
Mobido Diakite [Cagliari]
Foiled the Fiorentina forwards throughout and hardly put a foot wrong making several crucial clearances especially when he headed away a strong Manuel Pasqual volley, before making a goalline clearance on Juan Vargas’ volley. Inspiring.
Nemanja Vidic [Inter]
The Serbian was there to intercept when needed and made several crucial clearances including a strong Gervinho effort in the second half. It seems after a slow start the veteran defender is back to his very best. Impressive.
Matteo Darmian [Torino]
Arguably man of the match, the left-sided ace scored the vital opening goal with a right place, right time half-volley. Continued attacking and defending while he also set up the second goal with the perfect ball for Quags. Imposing.
Guilherme [Udinese]
The Brazilian was everywhere linking up the attack from midfield and sparked off several superb moves. Driving forward constantly like a jaguar with a jet pack he set up Emmanuel Badu’s winner with another killer pass. Outstanding.
Riccardo Saponara [Empoli]
Performed superbly sat just behind the strikers as he continually stretched the hosts to bursting point. Eventually got his reward following a one-two with Manuel Pucciarelli before he curled the ball into the top corner. Authoritative.
Andrea Bertolacci [Genoa]
Ruled the midfield, setting up attacks and struck a beautiful angled drive only to see it pushed round the post. He also helped his defence out but caused most danger when he headed home from a corner. Magnificent.
Lorenzo Insigne [Napoli]
As unperturbed as Pirlo with a glass of wine he coolly dominated while always looking for the main chance and it came when he stole the ball, ran into the area and scored with a peach of a curler. Commanding.
Fabio Quagliarella [Torino]
Worked hard and gave the Juve defence plenty of problems including testing Gigi Buffon early on with a low drive before producing the assist for Darmian’s goal. Reversing the roles later, he side-footed home Darmian’s clever pass.
Diego Farias [Cagliari]
Caused numerous problems scoring one and also producing a clever assist after taking the ball to the byline before pulling it back for Diego Farias. Continued to worry Fiorentina before his magnificent solo goal wrapped the game up. Imperious.
Duje Cop [Cagliari]
On the ball throughout and found space to slot home the opener from six yards. In the second half he scored his second following a deflection and perhaps could have scored another only to have a strong effort blocked. Domineering.
