With Lazio’s winning run ending and Roma drawing again, Juventus reign supreme as champions-elect. Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Week 31.

Andrea Consigli [Sassuolo]

Played a major part in earning the point after saving several fierce efforts. Called into action early pushing away Marco Benassi’s menacing effort and kept it up throughout while stopping Fabio Quagliarella’s strike at the death. Alert.

Andrea Rispoli [Palermo]

Overwhelming down the right side and got into dangerous areas several times to cause problems. Although never forgetting his defensive duties, it was upfield where he was most dangerous and he produced an assist for the opener. Commanding.

Andrea Masiello [Atalanta]

Commanded the centre of the defence with the utmost of confidence cancelling out the normally tricky Juan Iturbe. Overall it was a dynamic display by the 29-year-old, who never seemed out of place and made several crucial interceptions and blocks. Energetic.

Leonardo Bonucci [Juventus]

Juve’s star man, always alert to danger and had to be when deflecting a Miroslav Klose effort to safety. No slouch in the attack either and showed his commitment running 50 yards before scoring a wonderful solo second goal. Authoritative.

Stefano Lucchini [Cesena]

Bossed the left side of the Seahorses’ defence and whoever came within his area of control was dealt with efficiently. Stopped an almost certain goal when he blocked Alessio Romagnoli’s effort. Imposing.

Marek Hamsik [Napoli]

On the ball from the start, it was his inspired pass that set up Jose Callejon for the opener. Forever pushing forward, one dynamic curler needed finger-tipping away while later his sailing cross forced Cagliari’s own goal. Magnificent.

Ivaylo Chochev [Palermo]

Had the gift of foresight all afternoon, and was more slippery than a greased eel. Caused endless problems with his unrelenting runs. Scored the first by being in the right place at the right time while his second was perfectly placed. Brilliant.

Jacopo Sala [Verona]

The former Chelsea midfielder was ultra solid in the centre of the park and showed true grit and determination in every challenge and pass. Grabbed the deep midfield by its neck and never let it go throughout the game. Practical.

Jose Callejon [Napoli]

Left defenders behind as he disappeared over the horizon faster than Antonio Conte’s hairline. Scored the first goal while his versatility was seen again when he slid in to block Paul-Jose M’Poku’s effort as well as charging down another ferocious strike. Resourceful.

Carlos Tevez [Juventus]

Scored the first with almost his first touch as he latched onto Arturo Vidal’s precise header with a left-footed thunderbolt. Played with his usual vitality and aggression while contributing big time to the second goal.

Paulo Dybala [Palermo]

Like a voracious hog searching for truffles, he sniffed out opportunities from every angle, almost scoring immediately before his sublime pass helped Chochev score the opener. Following several goal-worthy efforts he slipped by two defenders to assist Chokev’s second. Inspirational.

Special Mentions: Rafael [Verona], Patrick Evra [Juventus] Riccardo Saponara [Empoli], Sergio Pellissier [Chievo], Claudio Marchisio [Juventus], Arturo Vidal [Juventus], Mounir Obbadi [Verona], Lorenzo Tonelli [Empoli].
