Always alert to any danger and marked his opposite number out of the match. A game of substance for one of the brightest prospects in the Italian league, who stood up to several tests and came out smiling. Courageous.

Leonardo Blanchard [Frosinone]

The 27-year-old had a complete game keeping Nicola Kalinic in check and also importantly halting a fierce late effort from Tello. Played a significant part in keeping the visitors quiet and inspired his defence. Combative.

Nicolas Spolli [Chievo]

The veteran defender was an integral factor in Chievo’s win and made some crucial tackles throughout the game. Standing out at the back he nodded away a Fabio Quagliarella effort off the line to help win the points for the visitors. Compatible.

Allan [Napoli]

Won the midfield battle with his intuition and intelligent play. Always determined in the tackle, winning back the ball and setting off attacks, the tough Brazilian ate up the turf and was also a ready outlet if any danger threatened. Complete.

Paul Pogba [Juventus]

Had a slow start but warmed up before going turbo-charged with a superb 30-yard free kick that foiled Daniele Padelli for the opener. He also went close with another effort before two magnificent assists for Alvaro Morata. Consummate.

Alejandro Gomez [Atalanta]

The Argentinean played just behind Mauricio Pinilla and absolutely ruled his zone of action, popping up everywhere to put the visitors to the sword, while also scoring with a simple tap in. Coordinated.

Alessandro Diamanti [Atalanta]

Bologna failed to track him with his positioning, one minute on the left, then on the right causing doubt and problems every time he got the ball, made the assist for Papu Gomez and scored himself. Comprehensive.

Ivan Perisic [Inter]

Stood out in midfield and scored his fourth goal in the last four games. Always looking to get the better of Alessandro Florenzi he climaxed his man of the match game with a superb left footer for the opener. Commensurate.

Gonzalo Higuain [Napoli]

Taking his total to 29 goals in 30 games Pipita menaced from the off with several attempts to both score and set up others. He really got motoring in the second half with two well-taken goals, especially the first when he beat Genoa’s offside trap. Cultured.

Alvaro Morata [Juventus]

Subbed on in the first half and soon picked up the pace scoring twice in the second half. His first saw him collect from a fabulous Pogba pass to coolly slot home before poaching his second following Pogba’s free kick. Comfortable.
