Two games, two assists from the Portuguese youngster have seen a good return on the investment the Viola paid out this summer. Unafraid to join in attack, he laid on a perfect assist for Gil Dias to score the fifth and final goal. Inventive.
Davide Astori [Fiorentina]
The big man at the back had a solid game and scored the Viola’s third goal into the bargain. Finding space at a corner, the 30-year-old former Cagliari defender slotted home easily. Firm.
Medhi Benatia [Juventus]
The 30-year-old left the Chievo forwards looking three tomatoes less than a sandwich on Saturday. One of his highlights just before the half hour was his solid interception from a dangerous Ivan Radovanovic screamer that Juve ‘keeper Wojciech Szcezesny could only parry away. Remarkable.
Milan Skriniar [Inter]
The Slovakian youngster has made a real impression in his three games so far and made a mighty impression on the crossbar from all of 35 yards out at one point. Always strong in the tackle he made a couple of significant clearances from chances by Marco Borriello. Sturdy.
Faouzi Ghoulam [Napoli]
Another top performance from the rangy left back, who never gave an inch to Bologna’s right flank. With several key passes and crosses he never gave the home defence a moments rest leaving them looking like they had won the lottery but with last week’s ticket. Decisive.
Miralem Pjanic [Juventus]
Was all over, organising play, setting up attacks and forcing a Chievo own goal. As unforgiving as a mountain blizzard, he also had a peach of a strike tipped on to the crossbar by Stefano Sorrentino before providing Gonzalo Higuain with an inspirational assist for his goal. Motivating.
Ivan Perisic [Inter]
An all round top game both defensively and attacking wise for the Croatian, who put in several crosses and half a dozen shots on target, as well as his fabulous goal. It was a moment of delight from the 28-year-old whose left-footed volley into the top corner was absolutely unstoppable. Inexorable.
Jose Callejon [Napoli]
After a slow start he inspired the visitors with a second half opener and an assist for Piotr Zielinski. From a Lorenzo Insigne cross that the home defence failed to deal with, the Spanish ace headed home from close range. Inevitable.
Paulo Dybala [Juventus]
La Joya came on in the second half to bring real enjoyment to the team and absolutely helped change the tempo of the game. Produced an assist and scored from 12 yards. Sensational.
Ciro Immobile [Lazio]
A man of the match performance from the big striker, who scored a hat trick from four shots on target, including the penalty, ten minutes either side of half-time. Not only that but a minute after scoring his third he set up Luis Alberto’s goal. Breathtaking.
