Despite conceding three goals it could have been a lot worse for Livorno if not for several decisive interventions by the 22-year-old Inter loanee. Particularly outstanding when making saves from Kamil Glik twice and Alessio Cerci. Superabsorbent.
Lorenzo de Silvestri [Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”64″>Sampdoria]
Solid and disciplined defending down the right allowing Roberto Soriano to venture forward without worry. Always hanging back to check any forward thrusts from Verona’s left flank and did what it says on the label perfectly, comprehensive covering. Supervening.
Nicolas Burdisso [Genoa]
A highly impressive performance from the Argentinean who never backed away from a challenge and limited the Parma forwards, especially Antonio Cassano, to being frustrated observers. Also took the ball up field with menace on a couple of occasions. Super.
Gabriel Paletta [Parma]
Showed why he could be first on the plane to Brazil after another top class performance. Made a dozen or so interceptions and clearances and limited the Genoa forwards to the occasional foray. Superlative.
Emiliano Moretti [Torino]
The highly experienced veteran was faultless and apart from stopping any attacks from Livorno down his left, he also made inroads into the opposition defence. Made a crucial block from being in the right place to stop Paulinho’s effort. Supersonic.
Giacomo Bonaventura [Atalanta]
Following a great run by Maxi Moralez, ‘Jack’ collected a perfect ball to slip home the first of his brace. Always looked to cause problems and headed home his second with some aplomb through Samir Handanovic’s legs. Superimposing.
Rodrigo Taddei [Roma]
Slipped into the role of the director of the play effortlessly and his surgical passing in the torrential rain was at the heart of all Roma’s best moves. His sublime ball for Mattia Destro’s goal was a perfect example. Superseding.
Roberto Soriano [Sampdoria]
Man of the match scored a brace and his flair and ability on the left was highly noticeable. His first came from a clever cross while his second saw him exploit a defensive mistake to hammer home from an angle. Supercharged.
Ciro Immobile [Torino]
A problem from the start, heading home the first from Alessio Cerci’s free-kick and continuing to be a menace with a further two goals to complete a fabulous hat-trick including the Bull’s 3000th Serie A goal. Ubermensch.
Mattia Destro [Roma]
Dissected the Donkeys’ defence without difficulty alongside the evergreen Francesco Totti. He confirmed his superiority by snapping on to a perfect pass slipping in between two defenders before coolly slotting home. Superb.
Carlos Tevez [Juventus]
Not his best game but always reliable, aggressive and determined. When needed the Argentinean did the business, scored the winner and almost added another. Sacred.
