With Roma losing and Napoli only scraping a draw, Juventus further cemented their lead at the top as Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Round 22.

Stefano Sorrentino [Chievo]

Won the points for the visitors, with a series of superlative saves, including finger-tipping away a Marco Parolo header at the far corner. After that, he pulled off a fabulous double save first from a Sergej Milinkovic-Savic effort, as well as another Parolo header. Imposing.

Andrea Rispoli [Palermo]

Had to put in a real defensive shift in and helped to stop the Napoli forward line from causing their usual trouble. Posed a few problems down his flank, and it was from his early crosses thatIlijaNestorovski headed past Pepe Reina. Complete.

Danilo D’Ambrosio [Inter]

Scored the opener after he found space from a corner to power the ball home. Was just as important in defence, making a handful of crucial tackles and interventions to leave the Pescara forwards flopping around like the tongue of an overheated dog. Authoritative.

Giorgio Chiellini [Juventus]

Another immaculate performance from the centre of Juventus’ defence as the thoroughbred never wasted a pass or a breath. Kept the normally-dangerous Alessandro Matri firmly in his pocket and was simply Chiellini. Commanding.

Alex Sandro [Juventus]

Sharper than an ex-wife’s tongue he was a menace throughout with his constant running down the left flank. It was from one of his early runs that he put in a cross for Gonzalo Higuain to score the opener. Powerful.

Marcelo Brozovic [Inter]

One of Inter’s best players, with an assist and a number of vital tackles. It was his technique, coolness and passing abilities, along with his dead-ball skills, that saw him create opportunities, while his tenacity also saw him excel as a midfield destroyer. Fundamental.

Federico Chiesa [Fiorentina]

Followed up last week’s stellar performance with another majestic display as he scored once and went very close twice. And with the second half just five minutes old, the teenager easily slipped by a defender before striking home a dynamic right-footer from the edge of the area. Vibrant.

Joao Mario [Inter]

Arguably the man of the match with his control of the midfield and ultimately the tempo of the game. Always lookingto cause problems, his industry was rewarded just before half-time when he collected Ivan Perisic’s cross to drill home Inter’s second. Invigorating.

Gonzalo Higuain [Juventus]

Another game, another goal, his sixth in six consecutive League games, it came after he received the ball fromAlexSandro’s pull back, got in front of his marker and slotted home from six yards out. Exhilarating.

Diego Falcinelli [Crotone]

The 25-year-old netted a well-deserved hat-trick. His first came when he sprung the offside trap with a glancing header, leaving the defenders looking as alert as a dead iguana. His second was a penalty, while his third went in a minute later. Exciting.

Giovanni Simeone [Genoa]

Led the line, scored a brace and contributed massively to Genoa grabbing a point. His first goal saw him loop the ball over the Fiorentina goalkeeper, while he played an enormous part in the equaliser and then topped it all off when converting the penalty. Thrilling.

Special mentions: Cyril Thereau [Udinese], Nikola Kalinic [Fiorentina], Marek Hamsik [Napoli], Roberto Inglese [Chievo], Iago Falque [Torino], Andrea Petagna [Atalanta], Adrian Stoian [Crotone], Luis Muriel [Sampdoria], Josip Posavec [Palermo]
