Cristian Ansaldi [Genoa]

Kept the opposition forwards quiet and dealt with many crosses into the area with the majority in his cool, detached manner. Forever causing problems the Argentinian proved to be a real pain in the backside for the visitors. Unwavering.

Alex [Milan]

A determined display from the Brazilian veteran who scored the opener from Keisuke Honda’s free-kick, smacking home a powerful header. Always looking to cut out danger he made several worthy interventions when needed and played his part in winning the points. Resolute.

Ervin Zukanovic [Roma]

The Bosnian new boy had a strong debut and was rewarded for his efforts with a clever assist. Showed his worth early as he rescued Roma with a smart clearance, then later providing the cross for Stephan el Shaarawy’s sublime goal. Consistent.

Jose Callejon [Napoli]

A top-notch performance and a wonderful brace late on in the game to seal a decisive win for the Partenopei. Apart from his two well-taken volleys, both set up by Dries Mertens, it was also the Spaniard’s cross that forced the own goal. Outstanding.

Paul Pogba [Juventus]

Adventurous and always willing to retrieve the ball, the gifted Frenchman had another powerful game. Bombarded Albano Bizzarri in goal, had a massive hand in the second strike, produced the assist on the third and then inevitably screamed in his own unstoppable right-footer. Inexorable.

Lorenzo Insigne [Napoli]

A continual protagonist with his runs and balls into the area. In an amazing first half he laid on Gonzalo Higuain’s goal with the perfect ball before shooting home with his own archetypal free-kick minutes later. Dazzling.

Alex Sandro [Juventus]

Played further forward, pressurised consistently and tested the visitors throughout, scoring his second goal in three games. Playing with intelligence and awareness the Belgian ace steamed into the area and despite being felled still managed to hook the ball home. Inescapable.
