With Inter going back top, the same four sides are monopolising the available Champions League places this season as Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Week 13.

Federico Marchetti [Lazio]

Was severely tested several times and his alertness and positioning saw him in the right place at the right time including stopping two strong Ivaylo Chochev efforts. He also pulled off a superb save from a Luca Rigoni volley. Aware.

Aware.

Jeison Murillo [Inter]

The 23-year-old Colombian has been the go-to man for defence and again showed his importance, including body blocking an almost certain goal before moving up the other end to take advantage of a sublime back-heel flick from Stevan Jovetic. Composed.

Cesare Bovo [Torino]

Arguably man-of-the-match and was kept busy throughout but never allowed the opposition any real inroads. Made a dozen or so clearances while also making several crucial tackles before striking from a corner to win the points. Alert.

Giorgio Chiellini [Juventus]

As usual he was at his commanding best, stopping, clearing and making tackles to keep the Milan forwards at bay leaving them – especially Carlos Bacca – fluttering like blind, bewildered butterflies. Authorative.

Alex Sandro [Juventus]

The Brazilian full-back came off the bench, replacing the injured Patrice Evra. Not since Das Boot has such an impressive sub been thrown into battle, with the left-back setting up Paulo Dybala’s winner.

Adem Ljajic [Inter]

Back in the groove, the midfield ace was at the centre of many of Inter’s best moves while also setting up two goals. Always looking to play the killer ball he also tested the opposition ‘keeper on several occasions. Intelligent.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu [Udinese]

The Ghana international put in a solid shift against Samp and scored the only goal of the game. Speeding into the opposition’s area, he controlled a Cyril Thereau cross before hammering home a sweet volley from close range. Commanding.

Claudio Marchisio [Juventus]

There will never be another Andrea Pirlo but Marchisio is attempting to do his very best at replacing him. Flitting between playmaking positions and slightly deeper, with his movement invariably the catalyst for a Juventus spell of pressure. Inspiring.

Lorenzo Insigne [Napoli]

Napoli’s hometown hero was again there when he was needed, setting up a goal and scoring one into the bargain, which came as he controlled a pass from Marek Hamsik and drove the ball in off the post. Bright.

Gonzalo Higuain [Napoli]

Tested the hosts' goalkeeper on a handful of occasions, especially an early effort that just flashed by. Yet always looking to get into the right position he eventually scored when he poked in Insigne’s pass for the visitors’ second. Incisive.

Paulo Dybala [Juventus]

Easily the most potent of the forwards on either side, the young Argentinian came alive in the second half and his attitude was rewarded when he hit home a superb volley for the winner. Perceptive.

Special Mentions: Emanuele Giaccherini [Bologna], Marek Hamsik [Napoli], Nicola Kalinic [Fiorentina], Stefan Jovetic [Inter], Mattia Destro [Bologna], Gianluigi Buffon [Juventus], Edoardo Goldaniga [Palermo].
