Football Italia has picked the ideal XI from Serie A Round 1, which includes four Italian players.

The opening 2024-25 Serie A Round is in the history books, and Football Italia picked the best players from the opening round using the average player ratings from Italian sports papers.

Atalanta‘s Marco Brescianini and Mateo Retegui were the best Italian footballers in the opening Serie A matchday with two goals each.

Inter‘s Marcus Thuram also scored a brace, so it’s natural to see him join Retegui in attack.

Another top performer in the opening round was Hellas Verona‘s Darko Lazovic, who provided two assists in a shocking 3-0 win over Napoli at the Stadio Bentegodi.

Another assist came from his teammate Ondrej Duda, while Juventus‘ debutant Samuel Mbangula scored just 23 minutes into his first-ever Serie A appearance.

Udinese‘s Maduka Okoye was the highest-rated goalkeeper. He contributed to the Bianconeri’s 1-1 goal at Bologna alongside his teammate Lautaro Giannetti.

Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus) and Alessandro Vogliacco (Genoa) have already been mentioned among the best Italian players from Round 1 and are also part of the ideal XI.

Ideal Serie A XI Round 1 (4-4-2): Okoye; Cambiaso, Giannetti, Vogliacco, Tchatchoua; Mbangula, Brescianini, Duda, Lazovic; Thuram, Retegui.
