Bartlomiej Dragowski made Spezia his comeback with a series of tough saves and Lecce were twice denied by the woodwork, as somehow it ended goalless.

Both relegation battlers had found some form recently, Lecce coming off three consecutive victories, but Spezia dropped a 2-0 lead to draw in stoppages with Atalanta midweek.

With Jeroen Zoet injured too, Bartlomiej Dragowski made his comeback ahead of schedule from a dislocated ankle in November, which forced him to miss the World Cup with Poland. The visitors missed Kastriot Dermaku, Kristijan Bistrovic and suspended Morten Hjulmand.

Dragowski immediately had to get back into the swing of things with two acrobatic early saves on Gabriel Strefezza and Lorenzo Colombo scorchers.

Lecce couldn’t believe their bad luck on 12 minutes, as first Alexis Blin’s header came off the crossbar, then Joan Gonzalez’s strike on the rebound came off the woodwork too.

Simone Bastoni’s looping header was pushed over the top and M’Bala Nzola should’ve done better when nodding Medhi Bourabia’s cross off target.

Dragowski was kept busy by Gonzalez at the back stick and the weather conditions got even worse after half-time, with the rain incredibly heavy.

Nzola was denied by Wladimiro Falcone on the counter-attack and Dragowski beat away a viciously dipping Strefezza attempt.

Falcone made an extraordinary save using his trailing foot when Emmanuel Gyasi was one-on-one, but the offside flag eventually went up.

Lameck Banda was unlucky to turn his diving header inches wide from the Ceesay cross from the right.
