A Domenico Berardi brace was enough to guide Sassuolo to a win over Spezia tonight, with Kaan Ahyan and Gianluca Scamacca also getting in on the action.

The Neroverdi dominated the Ligurian side in a confident display at the Maipei Stadium, having seven shots on target to their counterpart’s one. They also completed over 500 passes, far more than Spezia, who failed to break 400.

Berardi netted a penalty in the 17th minute to give Sassuolo an early advantage but things looked a little dicey later in the half, when Daniele Verde clawed back an equaliser.

The Neroverdi came out better in the second half and they grasped an early chance to re-take the lead. Berardi found his brace, continuing his hot streak ahead of Italy’s World Cup play-offs later this month.

Sassuolo remained mostly in control from this point onwards and late goals from Ahyan and Scamacca secure the three points for Alessio Dionisi’s side as they stormed to a 4-1 victory.
