Serie A has decided to revolutionise the fixture list, as the second round in 2021-22 will be asymmetrical compared to the first legs.

The Lega Serie A has voted for a change to the compilation of the fixture list ahead of the new season, as Sky Sport Italia reports the matches of the second round will not follow the order of those from the first.

The Lega Council was held this morning and the broadcaster reveals the unanimous verdict to change the Serie A calendar and allow a better distribution of games.

Sky reports an asymmetrical second round in the sequence of days compared to the first round and the only criteria imposed is to have a gap of at least eight games between the first and the second leg.

Serie A is thus following other European Leagues, such as the Premier League, La Liga and Ligue 1, where this system is already in place.

The Lega, however, will not take on a completely similar system to the other nations, with the return games totally different from the first legs, both in terms of order and as a composition within the same round.
