Federico Bernardeschi is desperate to return to Serie A but none of the top clubs are interested in bringing the Toronto FC winger back to Italy.

The 29-year-old’s time at the MLS side initially started well after his arrival in July 2022, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 13 league games, but things took a downward turn last season and he quickly became a figure of ire in the Ontario capital.

Bernardeschi only managed seven goal contributions across 33 total games for Toronto last year and he’s now ready to give up on life in the MLS, despite being contracted to the club to December 2026.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Bernardeschi’s entourage have contacted a number of the top Serie A clubs to explore a possible return to Serie A this month, but all of them turned down the opportunity.

Juventus, Napoli, Roma and Lazio all rejected the idea for various reasons, leaving the 29-year-old winger stuck at Toronto for the time being.

Bernardeschi is hoping to impress over regular minutes in the coming months as he looks to become part of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad for this summer’s European Championship.

  1. Over paid and a non performer! TFC management does not know what it is doing. No Italian team will take him as the cost is too excessive!
