The race to avoid relegation is wide open now, with five teams in an eight-point radius and two of them have a game in hand, so the Genoa Derby could be decisive.

Milan Badelj grabbed a last-gasp 1-0 win over Cagliari at Marassi this evening, which propelled the Grifone from doomed to right back in the thick of things.

They now have 25 points, the same as Salernitana (who have a game in hand), and only three adrift of Cagliari.

The bottom three go down, but crucially Genoa have the superior head-to-head record with Cagliari, so if they finished level on points, the Sardinians would be relegated.

Sampdoria are in trouble too, as they only have 30 points and next week is a head-to-head with Genoa, the Derby Della Lanterna.

Salernitana have won three on the bounce and still have a game in hand to be played against Venezia.
