Serie A Preview: Sampdoria vs. Napoli: Can Samp stop another giant?

by | Sep 22, 2021 11:29

Sampdoria are leaning on Fabio Quagliarella and Francesco Caputo to stop Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli in the fifth round of fixtures.

The Partenopei have started with four wins in four games and sat alone at the top for the first time since 2017-18 season ahead of Serie A Week 5.

Spalletti seems set to continue in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Victor Osimhen spearheading the attack, and despite scoring last time, Hirving Lozano should start on the bench at Marassi.

New arrival Caputo has been vital for Samp so far this season, scoring twice in Serie A, but the hosts have not won at the Luigi Ferraris in 2021-22.

Form guide: Sampdoria (L D D W) Napoli (W W W W)

Stat fact: Napoli have five wins on the bounce against Sampdoria, dating back to February 2019.
