Former Serie A players were centre-stage when Galatasaray came back to beat Manchester United 3-2, as Rasmus Hojlund scored twice, but Andre Onana was again disastrous and Mauro Icardi was both hero and villain.

It was a dramatic Champions League night at Old Trafford, as former Atalanta striker Hojlund found the net twice to put Manchester United in front, starting to fulfil the potential behind that €75m plus bonuses price-tag, especially with the delicate dinked finish for the second.

However, Wilfried Zaha and Kerem Akturkoglu got it back on level terms.

It was chaos late on with more Serie A old boys in action.

A horrible Onana pass was intercepted by legendary Napoli forward Dries Mertens, who was brought down by Casemiro for a second yellow card and penalty.

Ex-Inter striker Icardi stepped up and incredibly fired the spot-kick wide, but moments later he made up for it by scoring the winner as the offside trap failed, largely because former Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat was being used as a left-back.
