The Lega Serie A announced the candidates for the MVP awards of the 2022-23 season, including Rafael Leao, Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez.
There are three options short-listed for each role, so goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward, plus a separate award for top Under-23 player.
They are all calculated using performance statistics and algorithms, including GPS trackers.
The candidates for Most Valuable Player in the role of goalkeeper are Lazio’s Ivan Provedel, Michele Di Gregorio of Monza and Bologna’s Lukasz Skorupski.
The Best Defender award is between Milan’s Theo Hernandez and the Napoli pair of Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Kim Min-jae.
MVP in the midfield is down to Adrien Rabiot of Juventus, Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Inter’s Nicolò Barella.
As for the strikers, last season’s ultimate MVP Rafael Leao is again included, joined by Lautaro Martinez of Inter and Capocannoniere Osimhen at Napoli.
The top Under-23 Player award shortlist is Tommaso Baldanzi at Empoli, Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli and Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.
