Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez scored two fantastic counter-attacking goals to put Milan on the verge of Scudetto glory, but Atalanta had complaints.
There was so much at stake at San Siro, the Rossoneri could take a giant step towards the Scudetto, La Dea aiming for a Europa League spot. Simon Kjaer was the only remaining absentee, while the visitors missed Rafael Toloi, Giuseppe Pezzella and Josip Ilicic.
Rafael Leao’s curler was straight at Juan Musso, while Luis Muriel went on a strong run and shrugged off two defenders at the by-line, then tested Mike Maignan with a strike from the edge of the area that was plucked out of the top corner.

Olivier Giroud was furious that his penalty appeals were rejected after a knee to the hip from Berat Djimsiti, earning only a yellow card for dissent, but any contact was outside the box and VAR could not intervene. It was also not a red card, as he was moving away from goal and did not have the ball under control.
Half the crowd thought the Theo Hernandez free kick was in, but it hit the wrong side of the netting with Musso rooted to the spot.
Stefano Pioli made an inspired double substitution, because Junior Messias provided an assist with almost his first touch, sending Rafael Leao to blaze forward and drill through Musso’s legs. Atalanta were angry, as they felt there was a Pierre Kalulu foul on Matteo Pessina in the build-up.
Duvan Zapata fired over after shaking off Theo Hernandez, then the Colombian turned a free header wide from a corner.
Theo Hernandez doubled Milan’s lead with a remarkable run that he started on the edge of his own penalty area, shaking off five opponents until he slipped the finish into the far bottom corner. Again, there were protests at a possible foul on Jeremie Boga in the build-up.
This Theo Hernández fella is unreal! 😱
Runs through the entire Atalanta squad and slots home Milan’s second.
Is that the goal that seals the title? 🏆 pic.twitter.com/z6MsbhrSsO

Mike Maignan made a tough save using his legs on Duvan Zapata. This result means if Inter don’t beat Cagliari this evening, Milan have won the title.
Milan 2-0 Atalanta
Leao 56 (M), Theo Hernandez 75 (M)
Kept telling the Milan fans to be patient with Leao and once again he came up with the goods. Our most dangerous player. One game left. Forza Milan
We are getting closer Milan for life
Atalanta are a bunch of losers.
Anyways congrats to Milan on the title. Inzaghi lost the title for inter months ago.
Goal of The Season goes to……. THEO HERNANDEZZZZZ
This is the best team in the league by a Mile! No goalkeeper can be compared to maignan! The entire backline would rival any best in any league… Tonali and bennacear are improving…the attacking department is the only thing that needs improvement… Couple with the team spirit..can any team be compared to this young smoking teams of young Milan. Forza Milan… Those who said this team is and cannot be compared to inter or Juve can now eat their words
One more game ! Young Milan looking good . Anyone know if that yellow keeps Kessie out of the next match ? Could only watch the game on Fubu TV and sound was cut out for second half.
