Serie A leaders Milan stumbled again with a 1-1 draw against relegation strugglers Udinese, as Destiny Udogie cancelled out the Rafael Leao opener and the Friulani went closest to winning.

Watch the highlights here.

Serie A Highlights: Milan 1-1 Udinese

The Rossoneri had Ismael Bennacer suspended as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer injured, so Franck Kessie returned to the midfield after a surprise 2-2 draw with Salernitana. Bram Nuytinck was still out for the Friulani and Roberto Pereyra only fit for the bench.

It was a very sluggish start from both teams, Gerard Deulofeu and Davide Calabria firing off target, but Milan took the lead with their first genuine chance.

Sandro Tonali floated a ball over from the right, Rafael Leao controlled while shrugging off Rodrigo Becao at the back post and swept home with his right foot from a tight angle.

Mike Maignan plucked a Beto header out from under the bar, while Tolgay Arslan’s strike from the edge of the box skimmed the far post.

It was all Udinese in the second half and they got a deserved equaliser when Pereyra hooked it back over his head and Alessio Romagnoli failed to make the clearance, so Destiny Udogie bundled over the line from a couple of yards. It was the Italy Under-21 international’s debut Serie A goal. There were some suspicions of handball, and VAR did have a silent check, but opted not to call the referee in for an on-field review.

Brahim Diaz set up Leao to flick it over the goalkeeper, but Pablo Mari got back to clear in front of an open goal, then Marco Silvestri charged down a Romagnoli effort with his crotch, although the offside flag was up.

Rodrigo Becao made a decisive challenge when Leao was sent clear, but it was Udinese who went closest to victory in stoppages when Maignan got down to palm a Deulofeu snapshot round the post.

8 thought on “Serie A | Milan 1-1 Udinese: Rossoneri stumble again”
  1. It’s one thing trying to recover after going behind but to take the lead against both Salernitana and Udinese and go on to draw/almost lose both matches … top 4 is in real danger playing like this.

  2. Milan are a trash team that is wasting a UCL spot. Atalanta will likely miss out on UCL qualification yet they have more to offer in that competition than this Sorry Milan team. The title was there on the plate for them to just take it, but they found a way to CHOKE again, like last season.
Pioli is a not a manager that can win trophies. The sooner Milan move on from him, the better.
Inter and Napoli have both stumbled in the past few games, but Milan has played even worse than both of them.
    SHAMEFUL.

  3. Sometime in the future (year 3000) and Milan are still chasing their 19th Scudetto and Juventus have not won in Europe. Milan are not a big club anymore mentally or with their personnel, but having a small budget was always going to limit them. Not even playing in Europe, only playing once a week and yet Inter will stumble towards the title. A once proud club with a great history but a fallen giant for sure.

  4. The serie A fans make this league look like a joke. Milan and co are not worthy? No wonder your stupid referees are messing up their results in order as always to favor a club that represents the biggest fraud in football. @cypher and micah97. 18 scudetti, 7 champions league. juve and inter 55 scudetti between them with just 5 champions league. To the clown, judge for yourself who wastes your space.
