Milan 4-0 Venezia highlights

Fonseca: ‘Milan already thinking about Liverpool and Inter’

Abraham and Pulisic see ‘start of momentum’ for Milan

It has to be said, the first two Milan goals went in off Joronen, so he didn’t have a great game… And then gave away the penalty for 3-0. Basically, the only goal where he didn’t make a total mess of it was the fourth.

The Champions League kicks off next week and Milan start with a huge fixture against Liverpool on Tuesday September 17, followed by the Derby della Madonnina with rivals Inter on September 22.

Eusebio Di Francesco already looks like he is just waiting to get fired…

FT: Milan 4-0 Venezia

Serie A | Milan 4-0 Venezia: Dominant display for first victory

94'

Loftus-Cheek blasts over the bar from the edge of the area on an Emerson Royal pass.

90'

Into 5 minutes of stoppages. Which feels unnecessary when it’s 4-0.

89'

Franco Carboni on, Zampano off.

87'

Okafor curler from the left, but straight at Joronen.

86'

The replays of that 2-0 goal show it actually went in off Joronen’s arm… But Fofana had the last Milan touch.

2nd goal changed

As we said earlier, the Lega Serie A was a bit unsure whether Gabbia actually touched that and have now given the 2nd goal to Youssouf Fofana.

79'

Pohjanpalo and Busio off, Andersen and Raimondo on for Venezia.

78'

Pulisic and Fofana off, Chukwueze and Zeroli on for Milan.

77'

Morata goes down, but no foul, then a shot is deflected over for a Milan corner.

76'

Talk about a double whammy for Venezia – goal disallowed and player sent off at the same time. Still, they were 4-0 down, not as if that goal had given them much hope of a comeback.

74'

Musah replaces Abraham, who had cramp.

73'
Goal disallowed AND Nicolussi Caviglia sent off!

It was a second yellow for Nicolussi Caviglia, who really could’ve just had a straight red it was that high…

Milan‘s clean sheet remains intact.

VAR!

OUCH! Nicolussi Caviglia, who was already on a yellow card, didn’t just collide with Loftus-Cheek in midfield, he got his studs on his ankle! That is what sparked the counter-attack.

72'
Milan 4-1 Venezia: Francesco Zampano!

Milan and Clean Sheets – never to meet!

Venezia counter after a collision in midfield, Emerson Royal with a frankly terrible clearance and Zampano fires the rebound through a sea of legs.

However…

Apparently, there is some doubt as to whether Gabbia or Fofana got the final touch on that goal for 2-0. So it could change…

67'

Hans Nicolussi Caviglia booked for wiping out Abraham.

66'

Loftus-Cheek surges forward from midfield, goes past several, but then runs out of steam and fouls the defender.

65'

Duncan (limping) and Oristanio off, Doumbia and Yeboah on for Venezia.
