Milan bring back Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz to support Olivier Giroud in a 3-4-3 formation with Malick Thiaw at the back, while Torino look to Aleksey Miranchuk, Antonio Sanabria and a surprise debutant.

It kicks off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro at 19.45 GMT.

These teams already met twice before this season and in both cases Torino emerged with a surprise victory, 2-1 in Serie A on October 30 and 1-0 in extra time on January 11 for the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

The Granata were down to 10 men at the time in that knockout round, scoring on the counter-attack with Michel Adopo.

That was only one of the low points in Milan’s 2023, as they go into this round in sixth place, coming off two draws and three consecutive defeats.

Sergino Dest joined Ismael Bennacer, Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori and Alessandro Florenzi on the treatment table, though Zlatan Ibrahimovic does return to the bench for the first time since knee surgery in May 2022.

Stefano Pioli sticks with a three-man defence, bringing in Thiaw, but adjusts to 3-4-3 with Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao flanking Giroud.

Torino have a long absentee list too, missing Samuele Ricci, David Zima, Pietro Pellegri and Valentino Lazaro, with Ivan Ilic only ready for the bench.

Instead, Ivan Juric surprises by starting 18-year-old Lithuanian midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, who was promoted to the senior squad from the youth team in January.

This is his Serie A debut, thrown straight into the mix with that Coppa Italia decider Adopo.
