The Rossoneri were still on top spot going into the weekend, but the two-point lead was little protection considering Inter have a game in hand.

Stefano Pioli’s men were held to back-to-back goalless draws by Bologna and Torino, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury and a loss of form for Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao took their toll.

Ismael Bennacer and Ante Rebic return from injury, but Ibrahimovic, Alessio Romagnoli, Alessandro Florenzi, Simon Kjaer and Samu Castillejo are still on the treatment table.

Brahim Diaz has been in dismal shape lately, so Franck Kessie is pushed into a more advanced role.

The pressure is on, especially as Milan will face Inter on Tuesday, and you can watch the Coppa Italia semi-final second legs live and exclusive in the UK and Ireland on Premier Sports.

Genoa drew all seven of their first games under third coach of the season Alexander Blessin, then they beat Torino when down to 10 men, followed by back-to-back defeats with Verona and Lazio.

That 4-1 loss to Lazio was the first time the Grifone conceded more than one goal since January 17.

Andrea Cambiaso, Nicolò Rovella and Zinho Vanheusden are still unavailable.

Roberto Piccoli is promoted to centre-forward, supported by Caleb Ekuban, Nadiem Amiri and Morten Frendrup.

Milan: Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leao; Giroud

Genoa: Sirigu; Hefti, Ostigard, Bani, Vasquez; Galdames, Badelj; Ekuban, Amiri, Frendrup; Piccoli

  1. Milan should use Theo in the attack as an extra force, also he has better finishing than our current strikers. 3 men defense is enough against defensive team. If Theo stays forward and save his energy by not running back and forth, he can definitely help breaking the parked bus.
