Spezia are keen to pick up all three points in Tuscany as they look to distance themselves from a relegation battle with a win over Empoli.
The match between the Azzurri and the Aquilotti kicks off at 14.00 UK time at the Stadio Carlo Castellani in Empoli.
The Tuscan side have won two of their last five outings, picking up wins over Sampdoria and Inter, but dropped points in their last two league games against Torino 2-2 and Roma 2-0. 12th in the table, Empoli look comfortable in scenario and are on track to avoid the drop to Serie B this season.
Things are a little more difficult for Spezia, who only sit four points clear of relegation candidates Hellas Verona. Relegation represents a serious risk and the Ligurian outfit need to start picking up wins fast if they want to avoid slipping into the second tier.
Mattia Destro and Alberto Grassi are both out injured for Empoli. Spezia have a long list of absences, being without Jeroen Zoet, Simeone Bastoni, M’Bala Nzola, Viktor Kovalenko, Joao Moutinho and Szymon Zurkowski.
