Massimo Ambrosini, Alessandro Del Piero and Andrea Barzagli argue that MilanJuventus ‘lacked quality,’ although the Bianconeri must be happier than the Rossoneri with last night’s result.

Milan and Juve took one point each after last night’s meeting at San Siro.

The Rossoneri are now four points behind leaders Inter, but the Nerazzurri have a game in hand.

Juventus are still out of Champions League placements and sit one point behind Atalanta in fourth. However, La Dea also has a game in hand.

Ambrosini, Barzagli and Del Piero shared their thoughts on the match after the final whistle and seem to have the same opinion about it. Who is happier with the result?

“I think Juventus. First of all, they were playing away from home,” said Ambrosini, a former Milan midfielder.

“Then, they don’t have the same target as Juve and that’s their fault. They are not up there with the Rossoneri. I think Milan wanted to win after last week’s loss and before the derby. They wanted to get closer to Inter. Juventus’ target is the top four, so I think they may be a little happier.”

Andrea Barzagli, an ex Juve and Palermo defender, agrees with Ambrosini but adds: “For Milan, it was important to avoid defeat.

“A win would have allowed Juventus to close the gap with Milan. Juventus are probably happier. They played a solid game, the problem is that there wasn’t enough quality in the game.”

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero was one of the pundits at Sky Sport Italia and admitted Milan played slightly better than Juventus but didn’t do enough to justify a victory.

“It wasn’t an exciting match. The intensity of the Premier League is different, there are more shots on target. Tonight there were no opportunities, it’s hard to score goals without shots on target.

“The pitch was not great, but right now, there aren’t players willing to go in 1v1 situations. Milan did slightly better, but they also didn’t have many shots on target.”

Serie A resumes in the first weekend of February after the international break for South American teams this week.

Milan will face Inter, while the Old Lady will host Igor Tudor’s Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium.
