Former Lazio and Napoli striker Bruno Giordano believes Victor Osimhen is the ‘best header’ in the world ‘only Cristiano Ronaldo is on the same level.’

The 66-year-old previewed Friday’s Serie A clash between his former clubs in an interview with Il Mattino.

“I expect a spectacular game, with both team scoring. Napoli are favourite and if they continue like this, they will celebrate the title with six or seven games to spare,” he said.

“However, if Lazio play as they did against Milan, they can cause trouble for Napoli. They will fight for a top-four finish until the end with Roma and the Milanese clubs.”

The Biancocelesti sit fourth in the Serie A table and won the last two games in a row. Tonight’s match at the Stadio Maradona will also be a meeting between two of Serie A’s best strikers, Osimhen and Ciro Immobile.

“Both have the same determination and play every ball as it was the last one of their career. They never give up, that’s what they have in common,” noted Giordano.

So, where does Osimhen excel?

“Headers. Right now, nobody is better than Osimhen in the world, only Cristiano Ronaldo is on the same level.”

Giordano, a product of Lazio academy, spent nine years at the Stadio Olimpico before joining Napoli in 1985. He played alongside Diego Armando Maradona and Antonio Careca in the legendary attacking trio renamed MA-GI-CA, winning the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia in 1986-87.

He was Serie A’s Capocannoniere in the 1978-79 campaign with 19 goals.

Osimhen is Serie A’s leading scorer in 2022-23 with 19 goals in 20 appearances and has found the net in each of the last eight league games.
