Pedro’s powerful finish proved enough for Lazio to get the better of Fiorentina and put Maurizio Sarri’s men back on track.

Watch the highlights here.

Serie A Highlights: Lazio 1-0 Fiorentina

Sarri and his team spent the last few days in a training retreat after their 4-1 defeat to Hellas Verona. Luis Alberto was surprisingly in the starting XI, but Francesco Acerbi and Luiz Felipe returned from suspension. Nico Gonzalez tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and Bartlomiej Dragowski was still injured, as Riccardo Sottil came back from a ban.

Ciro Immobile scuffed his angled drive from a great position when fed by Luis Alberto, while Gaetano Castrovilli was frustrated at a yellow card for handball on Jose Callejon’s cross, as he seemed to get it with his shoulder.

Fiorentina began to pin Lazio back as the half wore on, but Immobile still nodded a Manuel Lazzari cross over the bar.

Lazzari forced a save with a solo run and snapshot from distance, beaten away by Pietro Terracciano, while Lucas Torreira blasted over for Fiorentina.

Moments later, Lazio took the lead at the end of a well-worked team move. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic combined with Immobile and sent Pedro down the left for his smart finish into the far top corner.

Fiorentina again pushed the hosts back, but failed to create many genuine clear-cut chances.
