Paulo Dybala made an ideal return to the starting XI with a great goal before Dusan Vlahovic’s header, sweeping Salernitana aside to move within a point of Inter in third place.

Watch the highlights here.

Serie A Highlights: Juventus 2-0 Salernitana

The Bianconeri needed to shake off the disappointment of their Champions League exit, but knew a win would put them within a point of third-place Inter – even if the Nerazzurri had a game in hand.

Manuel Locatelli tested positive for COVID-19, with Alex Sandro, Leonardo Bonucci, Denis Zakaria, Weston McKennie, Federico Chiesa and Kaio Jorge injured. Dybala returned to the starting XI, with Danilo moved into midfield. Salernitana were still rock bottom, but had Franck Ribery and Simone Verdi back on the bench.

It took under five minutes for Juventus to break the deadlock, as Juan Cuadrado’s through ball for Dusan Vlahovic was laid off for Dybala, La Joya flicked it up with his first touch to commit the defender, allowing him to fire in at the near post from six yards.

Dybala should really have made it 2-0, but dinked it over one-on-one after springing the offside trap on a Cuadrado cross-field pass.

Dybala got away again, this time turning Federico Fazio inside out, but rolled across for Vlahovic, whose first touch ruined it, allowing Luigi Sepe to save. Moments later, Dybala forced a one-handed save from close range with a bit of acrobatic improvisation.

Vlahovic did get his goal eventually with a towering header from six yards on the Mattia De Sciglio cross from the right.

Luca Pellegrini was booked for simulation and will be suspended against Inter, although it seemed a harsh call. He left the leg hanging, but had also tried to change direction, so was largely just clumsy.

Daniele Rugani came on for the restart and almost gave away a penalty when kicking the ball onto his own arm, but it was an accidental ricochet and therefore given the all-clear.

Juve visibly sat back and rested on their lead in the second half, allowing Salernitana forward. Wojciech Szczesny got down to push a Simone Verdi strike round the near post, then had to make a spectacular save to deny the acrobatic Federico Bonazzoli volley from 12 yards on a Milan Djuric knockdown.

  1. Great win
So proud against a tough side
Played well and not let a goal in
Will give them a boost beating a team like this 2-0
    LMAO 🤣

I did not bother to watch them this week

  2. @jaz garcha I don’t understand people like you. When Juve loose, you criticise them. When they win, you criticise them. What is it you want? It seems like the only way to satisfy trolls like you is to win every single game they ever play. But I guess that even then, a true douchebag troll, like your self, would find something to criticise.

  3. Te only one that is consistent is me. Juventus played very well in the first half but as per usual PhD Max let them coast in the second half and they should have scored at least 4 goals. An out of form Inter banged 5 past the bottom side so there is nothing to be proud of by some fans thinking that this was a tough opponent. Manchester City or Bayern Munich would have put 8 past Salernitana. Against a decent side Juventus would have struggled, as was shown in midweek by losing to Spain’s seventh best team.

  4. Pathetic display from Allegri/Juve’s haters. Do your self a favor, get some rest. @Jaz, This is just a game. If you don’t like it, just stop watching. It’s that simple. None force you to watch. @Lord with mental health issue, The guy you mock everytime is never bother here to read your pathetic posts. Oh yes, Allegri will beat inter in the next match.

  5. @Debu but you are the bigger loser because you read @Lord Allegri’s post and it triggered you. To be quite honest there is nothing wrong in what he is saying. Allegri is a decent coach but not for the modern game.

  6. Juve are having a terrible season by their standards. And yet they’re – 1 from Inter and – 7 from the top. No wonder they won for 9 years in a row. Inter having a great year with 7 points in 7 games, and Milan only just ahead. Behave yourselves.

  7. @Lord…Juve beat Chelse in the group and Inter (soon to be 4th placed) beat Liverpool on their turf. If you watched the Villareal game, you’d know Juve should have gone through comfortably were it not for goal keeping heroics and the frame of the goal. That’s not tactics, that’s luck. Then they were worn down and got hit on the counter. Over 2 legs, Juve were the better side but this is how it goes at this level. But in the CL, there’s no one at the level of Bayern who annihilate teams. They’ll tear any EPL team apart.

  8. NOrata I can respect die hard Juve fans but not delusional ones. Luck has nothing to do with the thrashing at the hands of Villarreal. In football you make your own luck and its about sticking the ball in the back of net. The submarines did it 4 times and that is what counts. Juve think that they can bring their Serie a pace into Europe and get a result. Never going to happen (1996) and they have learnt nothing since. Juve better over 2 legs. It must be early April fools. So they were unlucky against Ajax, Lyon and Porto. Give me a break Juve want a Super League format as they know they can never win the CL. They are not tier 1 material either way. If you cannot beat those clubs mentioned then you cannot hang with the big boys. Chelsea beat you 4-0 but you left that out and the group stages are not where you raise your game. Knock out games are where you see the real level.

  9. Patron Saint, you keep banging on about Juventus in the UCL but fail to recognize that they are the only Italian club to have made a final in the last 11 years and, by far, best performing Italian team in that time – that’s the simple fact, the rest is just biased BS. It took Inter 10 years to get out of the group stage and we all saw Milan‘s last placing in their group this UCL season. PSG and Man City are considered amongst Europe’s elite, yet have never won a UCL title.
