Serie A | Juventus 1-1 Torino: Belotti equaliser denies Bianconeri win

Andrea Belotti secured a point for Torino in their Derby della Mole clash against Juventus tonight, which ended 1-1.

The Bianconeri came into this match fired up, having started 2022 well and feeling dangerous following the arrival of star forward Dusan Vlahovic last month. A win was needed if the Turin side wanted to further consolidate their 4th place spot, with 5th place Atalanta only two points behind coming into this weekend.

Things have been a little more difficult for Torino recently; Ivan Juric’s side have only picked up one point from their last three league outings, and an away trip to the Allianz Stadium would prove to be a tough challenge.

Torino started the match in the driving seat, having a number of venom-less attacks early into the match.

Against the run of play, Juventus took the lead in the 13th minute. Matthijs de Ligt headed home a curling corner from Juan Cuadrado, putting the Bianconeri 1-0 up.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side began to settle into the game a bit, with Torino trying and failing to find an equaliser as the first half developed.

Mattia De Sciglio replaced Luca Pellegrini at half time as the Italian defender suffered a knee injury during the final stages of the first half.

The second half started in the same way that the first did, with the Granata pushing hard, but Juventus’ defence proved solid as Wojciech Szczęsny commanded his backline, looking confident between the sticks.

Paulo Dybala was brought off in the 54th minute after asking for a substitution, seemingly suffering an injury. This is a concern for the Bianconeri ahead of their Champions League clash against Villarreal next week.

Everything changed in the 62nd minute, when talisman Andrea Belotti scored a stumbling volley to tie things up 1-1, sending the visiting Torino fans wild.

Both sides pushed as the second half continued, but neither managed to find their second. Both teams looked increasingly tired as the match drew to a close, and everything ended all square in the Allianz Stadium, a frustrating result for Allegri and his side.
