Serie A Highlights: Juventus 1-1 Milan

This was a huge match, as the Bianconeri had just one point from three rounds, while the Rossoneri were on a 100 per cent record in Serie A. Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi were only fit for the bench, with Arthur Melo and Kaio Jorge injured, but Max Allegri dropped Leonardo Bonucci. Milan missed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud, Davide Calabria, Rade Krunic, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Junior Messias, so Fikayo Tomori was re-routed to right-back.

It was the perfect start for the Old Lady, because Milan’s corner was cleared and Paulo Dybala sent Alvaro Morata running from midfield, keeping his cool to scoop the finish over Mike Maignan.

The Spaniard almost got a second, getting in front of Simon Kjaer to flick on the Alex Sandro cross and test Maignan, as did Dybala from distance, pinning the Rossoneri back for long periods.

Adrien Rabiot ran clear on goal after a divine Dybala back-heel flick sparked the counter, but Tomori easily out-sprinted him to get in front.

More injury problems piled up for Milan, because Kjaer pulled up with a muscular problem, replaced by Pierre Kalulu, returning Tomori to the centre.

Ante Rebic had a shot charged down by Giorgio Chiellini, Sandro Tonali drilling the rebound wide, and Rabiot at full stretch could only steer the Leonardo Bonucci ball over the top wide.

Brahim Diaz had a promising run into the box, but the ball got stuck under his feet and he was crowded out before getting a shot away.

Rafael Leao fired over the bar, while Maignan parried a Danilo angled drive, but once again Juventus failed to keep a Serie A clean sheet since March.

Tonali whipped in a corner and Rebic towered between Rabiot and Manuel Locatelli to nod it in off the inside of the far post. That was the third Serie A meeting in a row that the Croatian scored against Juve and the Rossoneri had been gaining momentum as the game wore on.

Rebic fired over from a tricky angle after a Brahim Diaz cross-field pass and Pierre Kalulu thought he must give Milan the win when sprinting down the right, but Wojciech Szczesny performed a desperate reaction save from point-blank range.

  1. If not for so many injuries, we would’ve ruined them like last season. Again, a woeful and naively conceded goal…why go for broke so early?? they spent most of the first half parking the bus and the second half doing nothing. bitter taste because it really should’ve been 3 points.

  2. For all those Allegri supporters, I really hope you’re enjoying what you’re seeing. Parking the bus after 1-0? Complete joke. I guess PIrlo might be at home laughing at us thinking “So they sacked me for this?” Yeah this is really head-scratching, can’t understand how this is still happening. Rabiot is a lazy midfielder, Bentancur can’t make a pass or anything at all and why De Ligt was left on the bench? Yeah, that’s the manager you all were rooting for? Congratulations.

  3. There’s a serious problem with juve transfer strategy. Bentancur is not worthy of Juventus , McKennie, rabiot either. We are gonna suffer is we don’t trace bonucci and chiellini. Juve has no mission or vision. They were ridding on their successes to long and like inter, replaced great with crap with big salaries like Ramsey the donkey. It’s gonna be a long season , allegri tactically I like , the squad is a bunch of players , not a team. January and summer especially needs to be perfect . I don’t see juve in champions league this year , not even Europa in my view

  4. If this were Pirlo the haters would be ringing the alarm bells for his sacking but keep totally quiet on Allegri who specialises in some type of Zombie comatose 1 mph football. Juve played well for 30 minutes and went to sleep as usual thus parking the bus. They were outplayed overall by Milan who has more possession and fluidity away from home. If they had a fully fit squad they would have won. This pub team is in the relegation zone. Not saying that is ever going to happen but the irony of thinking they are a super league team is beyond a joke. They are a super team at mastering the art of comatose football.

  5. If this were Pirlo the clueless haters would be ringing the alarm bells for the sacking. When it is Allegri who specialises in Comatose Zombie 1 mph football they are suddenly all quiet. Super League team in the relegation zone. Well done Juve

  6. The issue is not with the players. We all know the bulk are lazy trash. Chiellini is great and Bonucci only when he has him to hold his hand. However they are not young and Chiellini was awarded a further 2 years. The great rebuild meant selling on Romero and gifting Atalanta the profits. Sending away Demiral and Dragusin. They cannot even sell the trash as nobody is going to take on players with huge salaries. The management is so inept and shows how great Marrotta is. Changing 3 coaches in 3 years is not the Juve of old in terms of how they ran things in the past. Until they sort out the head office these laboured displays will continue. Best solution is to just give Inter the title and put this team out of their misery before things get a whole lot worse.

  7. I have no idea how Chiellini gets away with diving 3, 4, 5 times a game, surely the referees should know what to look for? It’s like he has a get out of jail free card. I’m a lifelong fan of Italian football and I find it hard to watch sometimes, I’m actually embarrassed for the players – on both sides I should say. I’m disappointed at the way the Premier league has moved in a similar direction but it’s still a different level in Italy and I can’t understand how it hasn’t changed with the introduction of VAR.

  8. Just need 2 players on the posts for corners & we would have won.
GoalKeeper has no chance to save at such close range if we lose the headers
1-1 vs Milan is not the problem
    • we’ll be back
    Forza Italia & Forza Juventus
