Juventus snatched a point against nine-man Bologna in a chaotic finale, with Marko Arnautovic’s goal cancelled out by Dusan Vlahovic and controversy over a VAR call.

Watch the highlights here.

Serie A Highlights: Juventus 1-1 Bologna

The Bianconeri could both push to close on Napoli in third place and look over their shoulders at Roma. Alvaro Morata and Mattia De Sciglio returned from suspension, but Leonardo Bonucci was still not fully fit, with Federico Chiesa, Manuel Locatelli, Arthur Melo, Weston McKennie and Kaio Jorge injured. Bologna were fresh from a draw with leaders Milan and 2-0 win over Sampdoria, but coach Sinisa Mihajlovic continued to keep track from his hospital room during leukaemia treatment.

It was a special evening for Alessandro Del Piero, as the Juventus legend was at the Allianz Stadium for the first time since 2012.

Riccardo Orsolini failed to make the most of a defensive error and Dusan Vlahovic’s header from a Morata cross skimmed the bar before the Paulo Dybala free kick flashed wide.

Mattias Svanberg tested Wojciech Szczesny from distance and Aaron Hickey anticipated Morata on the De Sciglio cross.

Danilo hit a ferocious strike from outside the box that flashed just past the far post. Giorgio Chiellini made a decisive interception to prevent Orsolini tapping in the Mitchell Dijks low ball.

At the dawn of the second half, Arnautovic had a huge chance when he gathered Roberto Soriano’s ball with his back to goal, spun De Sciglio and drilled inches wide with Szczesny stranded.

Moments later, Juventus had their own big opportunity, a Luca Pellegrini cross sailing past both Morata and Lukasz Skorupski, until Adrien Rabiot prodded wide at the back post.

It was Bologna who took the lead when Soriano’s through ball surprised Matthijs de Ligt, Arnautovic took a touch to take it around Szczesny and deposit into the net from a tight angle. The Austria international scored each of Bologna’s last six Serie A goals.

De Sciglio’s long-range effort took a wicked deflection, fingertipped over the bar, and on the resulting corner Danilo’s header was kept out only by the inside of the far post.

De Ligt’s header was beaten away by Skorupski, but the Dutch defender sustained an injury during that move and had to come off.

Arnautovic also hurt his back and was replaced, Juve finally created a genuine chance to unleash chaos in the final minutes.

Morata rode a Medel tackle and went down under the Adama Soumaoro challenge, play continued and Juan Cuadrado hit the frame of the open goal. After a VAR review, the referee saw Soumaoro didn’t connect with the ball, but caught Morata just outside the box, leading to a red card and no penalty. This infuriated Medel so much he received two yellow cards in five seconds for dissent.

After all of that, Vlahovic fired the free kick over the bar. Leonardo Bonucci also drilled wide as Juventus poured forward in waves against nine men.

It paid off, as on a corner Morata’s acrobatic bicycle-kick was going wide until Vlahovic nodded in at the back post from a yard.

Juventus 1-1 Bologna

Arnautovic 52 (B), Vlahovic 95 (J)

Sent off: Soumaoro 84 (B), Medel 84 (B)

  1. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Bologna have the worst away record and still schooled PhD Max. Even with 9 men they couldn’t get the win. Credit to PhD Max, even Cuadrado cannot score an open goal and Zinedine Rabiot Zinedine even worse. 97th minute Cafu falling on the floor and Frittata showing his fine first touch. Now watch the defenders of Max telling us about the 5 Scudetti, 2 lost CL finals and how he all but signed for Real Madrid. Saw City vs Liverpool today and pleasure watching the two best coaches.

  2. Watching Juve today because my brother have a bad day and I want to make him laugh by watching this comedy team with its clown coach. Working well. Too bad my King and dear Capitano Alessandro Del Piero have to witness this nonsense directly at the stand.
My brother laughed so hard when Morata try to claim a penalty after he gets fouled by bernardeschi. And it’s funny how the entire stadium suddenly erupted for a point against 9 men Bologna. What a joke.
Hopefully UCL won’t witness these type of backward and idiotic football next season.

  3. @Lord I know you like rubbing it and you’re funny but I cannot complain with your take on this. From the first minute the team are jaywalking and seeing Juventus reduced to having a coach that is squatting on the touchline, frantic and with no jacket shows how low we have sunk. The Inter fans are going to have a field day and in a few weeks will make light work of Bologna. Thanks Milan for choking again.

  4. This was Bologna and at home. I am ashamed of watching players who do not respect the shirt, will not fight for it and think that they are already on summer vacation. Allegri has made us worse and stop with the excuses for him it is getting worse week by week.

  5. And out came all the keyboard warriors….
    Allegris credentials :
    Champion :
    2018-19 Juventus
    2017-18 Juventus
    2016-17 Juventus
    2015-16 Juventus
    2014-15 Juventus

    All of you:
    PS5 champion at best.

    Suck on that!

  6. 3 more years of this. Better to watch golf or bird watching then see a team that plays like this. Vlahovic made the worst decision of his life to come not to Juve but to be managed by Allegri. The players were made to look like a relegation team by Bologna. Reinforcements are not needed when playing mid table teams so how can people justify this excuse…

  7. 95% of the fans would agree Allegri is to be terminated on June…his circus showcase did not lie tonight…however with circus director in charge that would only mean with Roma overtaking us that would trigger his termination

  8. Chiellini was at fault for Bologna‘s goal. Rugani just has to start. He is a very good defender that is why he is with Juventus. Let him make mistake just like everyone. Allegri destroys players by not trusting them.
This is one of the reason Italy is not growing. Lack of trust by Italian managers

  9. Summer cleanup:
    OUT:
    Rugani
    Kean
    Rabiot
    Ramsey
    De Sciglio
    Arthur
    Dybala
    Chiellini

    IN:
Someone Nedved is not involved with signing.

  10. @many wise guys

    Allegri , is that you?

Even Jube fans don’t share the your sentiment toward the guy

Must be frustrating being an Allegri cultist these days

  11. @many wise guys, I had a feeling you would bring up the past and that is why it is called the past. You like living in the past just like your dinosaur.

Allegri won in the PS4 error and you should try PS5 as it moves quicker then Allegri’s Atari 2600 which he is still insisting on using.

    Fun facts 2022:

    1. Allegri fewer points then both Sarri and Pirlo with largely the same team in place.
    2. Advantage Allegri as those players have now been at the club longer and used to the environment.
    3. Nine clubs have scored more goals then Juve,
    4. No progress made and still fighting for 4th spot. Should be second if he was a decent manager.
    5. Sarri lost to Lyon on away goals.
    6. Pirlo lost to Porto on away goals.
    7. Allegri lost to Villarreal 4-1 and thrashed at home. No need for away goals to defeat Allegri.
    8. Allegri has a worse home record then the previous two managers.

Now in 2022/2023 some fun facts:

    1. Inter to retain the league title for the third time.
    2. Juventus to fight for 4th place again.
    3. Juventus knocked out of the champions league by a minnow.
    4. Allegri still using his Atari 2600.
    5. Allegri bans PS5 and all electricity.

  12. @walha stop it with this Rugani talk. Nice refused to sign him out right and Cagliari said no thanks. Juventus had Romero and Demiral but somehow decided to stick with a 37 hall of famer but is not young anymore. The same goes for Bonucci.

  13. @Mahsoud you hit the nail on the head buddy. If that were the Bernabeu or Camp Nou the fans would not tolerate it and changes would come. Bigger clubs like Barca would did not put up with Koeman’s ways despite being a former club icon. In Madrid the white flags would be waving and Bayern will make changes after crashing out to Villarreal and give young Julian the time. But this is Juventus, standards are lower and expectations are not as big as the teams mentioned above. Good job Allegri did not turn up in Madrid as it would be an even shorter reign then Lopetegui.

  14. @Lerico based facts but the army of Allegri loyalists will dispute this and still think he is on par with the best of the best. Juventus actually play better on PS5 but I still haven’t won the Champions League with them lol.

  15. Squad overhaul is not needed. Allegri need to be sack. Pirlo is better than Allegri. Juve have a great squad with also very talented youth players that can already make the step up in serie A, but Max is refusing.

  16. Talented squad yeah right. Arthur is a disaster so no need to listen to those who beg him to start. He is lazy and a severe downgrade on Pjanic. Rabiot another disaster along with the fake Brazilian Danilo. Kean only scored goals for PSG as that is France. Ivan Juric gets more out of his players then Allegri. They made a huge error with Kulu as the system does not suit him and trust me Dybala is another mistake. It makes no sense to play him when he knows he is on borrowed time and he is saving himself for Inter where he could rise from the ashes. Never forget the mistake with Marotta.

  17. Here’s another fun fact

Mario Arnautovic, Gary Medel and Sinisa Mihajlovic are all ex Inter players

Needless to say, they played against Jube with a fiery conviction

  18. Interrage, every opposition player plays with fiery conviction against Juventus because it has been the most dominant club in Italian football, something Inter will never experience.

  19. Frankie

What a pitiful performance from the “most dominant club in Italy football”

Bologna goal was an absolute beauty. When was the last time you saw a striker dribbling past the goalkeeper

What a shame really, Bologna would have won if not because of 2 red cards and 9 minutes of added time

What a sad state your club is in

  20. @Frankie Indeed Juve drew today because Bologna played with conviction. Yep, nothing to do at all with your board signing useless players and hiring an out-of-touch manager. You hear that people? the whole club is not at fault, it’s the opponents’ fault for playing football against Juve.

  21. No more of this Allegri out please. Next time just ask your opponents to lay down and let Juve score an open goal. You’d need about 50 of them judging by this match.

  22. @Interrage Juve are going through a difficult period so who’s saying they’re dominant right now? Things work in cycles. Juve cycles run for a few years… Inter cycles are like those of Halley’s comet which is why Inter have half the trophies of Juve (even when we gift you some).
Re the Bologna match… They were more determined and maybe deserved more. The decisions were correct and the added time (if you actually watched the match) was correct given the amount of stoppages. Even the Inter papers are not criticising the ref.

  23. Silly Ibrahima has been very quiet. Could it be the shame of not winning against a team reduced to 9 men. I was having trouble sleeping yesterday and lucky to have been watching a Juve game and hey presto I fell asleep after 5 minutes.
