Federico Chiesa hit the crossbar, but Juan Cuadrado scored in stoppages from an impossible angle to give Juventus victory over 10-man Fiorentina after Nikola Milenkovic saw red.
The Bianconeri were coming off back-to-back Serie A defeats to Sassuolo and Verona, despite the midweek win over Zenit that put them in the Champions League Round of 16. Wojciech Szczesny, Mattia De Sciglio and Moise Kean were injured, with Leonardo Bonucci not fully fit and Giorgio Chiellini pulling out in the warm-up with a slight muscular issue, so Daniele Rugani stepped in. The Viola missed Nico Gonzalez, Bartlomiej Dragowski, Erik Pulgar and Aleksandar Kokorin.
Alvaro Morata went around Pietro Terracciano, but was too wide, pulling back for Paulo Dybala to blast over.
There was a similar move at the other end, Alvaro Odriozola pulling back from the by-line for Riccardo Saponara to fire off target from 12 yards.
Serie A Liveblog: Spezia-Torino, Juventus-Fiorentina, Cagliari-Atalanta
Mattia Perin fingertipped a dangerous Jose Callejon cross off the head of Dusan Vlahovic, but there was a curious moment at half-time.
The referee went to blow for the break, but got a call from VAR that they were checking for a potential Danilo handling offence. After a long wait with everyone on the pitch, news came through it was considered in a natural position and play could resume – or rather end for the half.
Morata flicked the ball up over Nikola Milenkovic and turned to volley inches wide, while Adrien Rabiot’s effort was deflected.
A member of the Fiorentina staff was sent off from the touchline, followed swiftly by Milenkovic for a second yellow card, both of them avoidable late challenges. It also means Milenkovic and Lucas Martinez-Quarta will both be suspended against Milan.
Chiesa almost scored the goal of the season against his old club, as despite an awkward bounce and tricky angle, he unleashed a ground to air missile that cannoned against the centre of the crossbar on the half-volley.
Morata had the ball in the net on 81 minutes, but was clearly in an offside position for the volley. Moments later, it looked like a sensational Pietro Terracciano save, but in fact Morata had kicked the ball onto his own hand from six yards.
Terracciano did get his gloves dirty on another Chiesa effort, but the deadlock was only broken in stoppages by substitute Cuadrado. He got past Cristiano Biraghi at the by-line, seemed as if he had to pull back for Kaio Jorge, but instead drilled in from an impossible angle in the gap between Terracciano’s knee and the near post.
There was almost a second too, Terracciano sticking out a foot to deny Chiesa, who had shaken off Igor.
Juventus 1-0 Fiorentina
Cuadrado 91 (J)
Sent off: Milenkovic 73 (F)
Successful week winning both matches. Seems like the retreat worked. Now we need Italy to win their next 2 matches.
All hail Chief Allegri, cometh the the hour, cometh the 1-0
Shocking but not surprising performance. 1 shot on goal all game long and a GK who should be saving that at the near post. LUCKY but at least it was their second best player after Chiesa.
Frittata offside for the 4000th time in his journey man career. Dybala not stepping up, coming from too deep as usual plus too many silly flicks and no tricks.
Jorge only coming on in the 87th minute when needing a goal. Well done Max.
Chiesa being put on the right instead of the left by donkey boy Max. He will be seething with rage that his desired 0-0 was not completed. After all Sideways Sandro came off early just to prepare for the next ritiro. A master class on the art of the sideways pass.
The Juve fans will be jubilant that little Fiorentina were handled with ease in the 91st minute.
Lazio and Atalanta will bring them back to reality with back to back defeats.
Next match SORRY BALL VS ZOMBIE BALL.
Bravo Max
Chiesa in fiorentina were called a diver. Isn’t it interesting that now he wears juve shirt and suddenly whenever he falls down opposing team gets yellow card?
Well done dangermouse you can count. 1+1 = 2 games (Translation 16/15/18)
Keep going you are only 1 standing away from the Europa League Conference.
I think you need to watch the actual match. The Lord is correct. You cannot even string more than 2 passes together and you had one shot on target the whole game (the Chiesa effort against the bar).
lol @stupid haters above, YOU MAD BRO????? XD
Phew I had 2 diapers on for this game and it flew off when Panita Cuadrado scored. Had to keep it in but I got a feeling I am going to need the safety pin for out next 2 games.
Lord Alllegri,
Just a correction, if I may, your Highness. Chiesa’s preferred is indeed his Right.
Stupid Outer,
Eh? Moron, address me when your morte de fame team has their own stadium. Collect enough tokens from your shirt sponsor and maybe just one day you’ll build your own instead BEGGING tax payers. Maybe a nice and shiney one like the Allianz. Collect them 1+1+1+1, so on and so forth 🙂
Good Luck to Argentina in World Cup qualifiers.
ha ha ha the Juventus page is the best, full of early Christmas pantomime jokers. El Cid you are a legend for admitting to the public that you wear diapers lol. Brave man but fair play and dangerboy in some sort of Inter feud love it. I prefer to stick to the football. I am a bit upset as I bet that Fiorentina would win. I am sure I will make it back with the Lazio away match and possibly the Atalanta game. I used to think the legend @Lord Allegri was a punk. But if you read what he says everything is true. Juventus DNA is to win no matter what the score is. But these games are hiding the issues. Struggling like hell against Fiorentina is so worrying. If it were against Bayern it would be hard to defend but it is true having one shot on goal that was on target at home is pitiful. The fans are just happy to be relieved. The great Juventus should never have to struggle against these mid table teams with a pedigree which does not match Italy’s greatest club. Juventus fans should not get complacent and must demand better.
Ah dangerboy touchet. Yes Chiesa can play on the right but his left is where he does more damage. In the Euros cutting in from the left was where he was most lethal. The genius Lord Allegri with a coaching philosophy dating back to the pre Roman Empire needs to pay a visit to Sir Pirlo, to understand how to use him properly. I do fear for young Chiesa as he hit the crossbar when donkey boy Max was probably screaming at him to retreat back to the halfway line and pass it back to Perin.
Oi @Liam muppet stop stealing and using the Lord Allegri routine. Not cool! Get you own routine peasant fool. I do like the Roman Empire bit but still put the work in and do not be lazy. It is not difficult to critique the world’s best coach but harder to make it good. Typical British EPL fan plagiarizing and needing the foreigners how to coach and teach the so called inventors of football how it is done.
Liam,
For Italy, Insigne was on the Left. Berardi and Chiesa rotated on the Right wing.
Rickey,
I like the resident Inter fan amongst us! ‘Solo Inter’ and all of his proxy usernames as seen on other chats on this site. I upset him on another board about Inters lack of stadium and begging taxpayers to build one. Sadly, he lashed out hiding behind a fake name. It was good for a laugh.
He may be a Village Idiot but he’s OUR Village Idiot and that counts for something. Ain’t that right, Stupid Inter. Shake your head in agreement. That’s a good boy.
Sorry, Barella. Not Insigne.
We got the win and the 3 points and that is all that matters. For all the haters keep it coming as when we start to win again and dominate you will all shut your mouths.
I told you give McKennie time. He is young and will do stupid things from time to time. He has been our best player for the last 3 games. Now when he has an off game watch the hate come in.
dangerboy chill. Do not let the haters get to you bro. They are just jealous of our 38 scudetti
Allegri is not a bas coach. The reality is some players are not designed to play in the system he wants and other are not at the Juve level. Wait till the summer but we better make top 4 or we will be financially limited.
@SArcone finally someone talking about football. I cannot believe the people who post here from EL CID, Lord no nothing and dangerboy who just likes to rant. When we win it is not good enough, but when we lose or draw the world is about to end. We have to be honest, no team can win forever. Those 9 titles have made the fake fans entitled and spoilt. I bet they never supported or even heard of Juventus when we were in our darkest moments. What other league apart from the Bundesliga has a team won forever? For those that want champagne football that is never what we have been about. Sure we need to play better but this is a process. I am not going to hate on other teams. Sure Inter and Milan are better then us for now. The positives are Ramsay will never play for us again, Dybala will extend and with some new faces to help Locatelli we will be fine in the future.
Aw poor dangermouse getting his knickers in a twist and letting paranoia overcome him. My dangermouse is now an angermouse. Poor baby did I shake you up, is that why you called me a moron? Your life must suck to hate me that much. No girlfriend, boyfriend or mother not breast feeding you anymore? Big boy well done thanks buddy. The only village idiot is you as anyone that posts 3 times in a row thinking he is talking to himself must be on medication like your cabron twin Lupo. I don’t need to make up names. Proud to be an INTER fan and happy to use the title boldly. Unlike you who goes on the Inter and Milanista posts but will never reveal the dark secrets of being a Juventino. Talking about Sheriff but hiding as a Bianconero. Come on the Inter section tmrw and bring the love win, lose or draw, but I guess you will not mention which team you support. Hopefully we do get enough fan tokens to build a stadium that would be great for the pathetic champions of Italy and 3 times CL winners. I hope it can be as good or better then the mighty 40,000 seater Allianz Arena. If not at least we will never play in Serie b. I bet you were never a supporter during those days hey boy. Started to come on board in 2011? Now go to bed, take you medication and ask mummy for a bead time story, warm milk and cookies.
Village Idiot,
Pretty sure my posts are clear that I identified myself as a Juve fan. Trying read. It can be fun!
knickers? mummy? LOL, go bow to your Queen.
Don’t worry about Juve’s stadium. You know, the one we OWN. If we need to play a match and want a higher attendance, we will just go to Milano and use the one that the city owns. No shortage of Juve fans in that city.
@pathetic impostor, next time, wipe your tears first before you came here to posting garbage.
Lmao @loser Internazionale, you mad bro????? you need tissue???? Hahahahaha
All the pathetic hater here seem so upset when Juve win. Aww… So nice to see that!
angermouse you only reveal your club when you are on the Juventus section. On the Inter and Milan posts you hide and cower. Yeah yeah yeah you talk about the stadium which you have probably never even been in. Plastic fan very good. So you have only supported Juventus since 2011 as you did not clarify. One more time were you a Juventino during your stint in Serie b? At least you have a sidekick in this guy who says he wears diapers. OK very confusing but each to his own.
I will help you mommysboy go and watch Giuseppe Bognanni aka GJUSTJUVE. At least that is a true Juventino with knowledge and he can teach you the history of your club before 2011 good and bad.
I will help you out buddy, do not now go and post 3 or 4 times in a row as if you are talking to yourself. Take the medicine and go to anger management classes. Yoga can help you as you must have a sad life hey boy.
Covid smack you in the head, did you get vaccinated in the ass?
@Loser Internazionale, one question here sir, when you posted that garbage, you didn’t cry, did you? Hahahaha
@SArcone @tony spot on difficult moments but I am sure we will get into the top 4. I have given up on winning the title as to be frank we are too far off from Napoli and Milan. Miracles can happen but I think we have messed up in too many games from the start. Shame but next year Allegri will sort it out.
I see the children like EL CID are still at it. LMAO wearing diapers!
This is gold lol you guys are awesome love the pre Christmas banter. Who needs the Derby D’Italia when you have it here. @EL CID you gotta be joking right about wearing 2 nappies. I think Juventus needs to at least get 4 pts out of the next few games but it will not be easy as I am sure Sarri will want to prove a point. Atlanta at home will easier as they are not as good as last season.
Ah so EL CID is really dangermouse priceless. I noticed that with the Sir part twice. What a loser needing to usernames to take on the might of Inter. Cat got your tongue boy. Hey boy I guess using your first name was too much knowing you got wrecked. One last thing EL dangermouse, Chiellini is not your greatest ever defender. It is Gaetano Scirea. Thought I would help you out buddy as you have only been a Juve fan since 2011. Loser needing 2 diapers just to watch your team eke out a win. FYI Dzeko has out scored all your 4 strikers but I will Kaio alone as he regrets not going to the Milanista cousins.
Shut your mouth, Chris! I swear you’re one of the stupidest people in this blog. You and me, we are the same. We both mocked Allegri in the past and now we’re acting like we are loyal Juve fans and have full support on Allegri. Shame on you!
Hey @Lame Internazionale! None wants to read your lame prejudice. Cut it out! As an inter fan, I’m ashamed of your nickname as we both know Inter is not that super. We had to create calciopoli to win something, remember? Ughhh! why can’t we win like Juve?
Oooofffff, calm yourself, Village Idiot. Like Allegri urges: calma.
You are all over the place with your stupidity that I legit had to read it 3 times (1+1+1 so you can understand) to try to make sense of it. Mainly because you are in such a hurry to get out your rage that you lack proper grammar (yes, before you ask, I am the grammar nazi to you)
– El Cid and I are not the same poster. You’re just a clown.
– You, however, DID post with multiple usernames. That much is true and you know it. The first time where it concerned me was on the stadium chat where I laughed at Inter’s lack of a stadium despite being in existence for a century and pretending they are a big team. Since that little jab your little wee-wee has gotten the hardest it’s ever been and trying to get back at me for my slight. Ain’t that right, Village Idiot? Don’t really care but it’s funny how you accuse me of what YOU do. Projection much?
Now STFU, count those fan tokens, slowly (1+1+1), from $inters fan socio and maybe you too can buy your own stadium. Christmas isn’t too far away, maybe ask Santa for one.
Since you love numbers so much: 36 > 19
Forza Juventus, the eternal Italian Champions.
I think all this Juventus and Inter bashing is pointless. Fact Juventus are Italy’s most prestigious team in a domestic sense but Milan and Inter have a better record in Europe. Europe is the absolute measuring stick. Apples and oranges. I am a Liverpool fan but will admit Real Madrid is the most revered team in the world. Serie a is a competitive league but they lack the financial muscle to compete in Europe.
Glenn this is Juventus site my friend. Liverpool… Do not forget you guys did not win a league title for 30 years and as I have always said football comes in cycles. Money obviously grows on trees in England and Spain. Real Madrid and Barcelona are in debt and broke. Without the money do you think Salah would want to play in the rain and cold darkness over there. We run a sound club and do not forget the pandemic hit us hard. We do not have oil money like City and PSG and nor would I want it as we have a family who have ran the club for over 100 years and we know it is because of the passion they have for Juventus. Suning will soon realise that Inter are already broke and I look forward to the chaos.
