Juventus had comfortably the best chances, including Danilo off the upright and a Malick Thiaw goal-line clearance, but Milan held on to a point and second place.

This was a head-to-head for second place after Inter sealed the Scudetto. Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori and Davide Calabria sat out bans, with Simon Kjaer, Pierre Kalulu, Mattia Caldara and Luka Jovic injured, so the Rossoneri had to reinvent their defence after the derby defeat and Europa League exit. Mike Maignan also pulled out in the warm-up with an adductor issue. Juve lost 2-1 to Lazio midweek, but still qualified for the Coppa Italia Final 3-2 on aggregate.

See how it unfolded on the Liveblog.

Yunus Musah’s attempt was deflected wide, while Matteo Gabbia and Andrea Cambiaso couldn’t keep their efforts on target. Musah was booked for wrestling Dusan Vlahovic to the ground just outside the box and will be suspended.

On the resulting free kick, Vlahovic’s effort bounced on the ground and forced Sportiello to fingertip it round the base of the far post.

Juventus had an extraordinary double chance at the dawn of the second half, as first Filip Kostic stung Sportiello’s gloves at the near stick, then the goalkeeper parried the Danilo follow-up onto the upright from point-blank range.

Adrien Rabiot did enough to stop Rafael Leao getting control of a ball over the top and Ruben Loftus-Cheek sprinted back to rob Kenan Yildiz on the counter-attack.

Sportiello was also brave to throw himself at the feet of Kenan Yildiz when substitute Federico Chiesa rolled across from the left, while Loftus-Cheek’s strike bounced inches wide of the upright.

The Juve substitutes livened them up, as Arkadiusz Milik’s glancing header on the Chiesa cross was smothered on the line by Sportiello, while Leao’s strike was deflected wide from 12 yards.

Juventus had a huge opportunity to win it at the 86th minute, as Sportiello fumbled a Weston McKennie looping header and Malick Thiaw had to clear the Rabiot rebound off the line. On the resulting corner, Milik’s glancing header skimmed the far post.

McKennie also saw his curler charged down by Ismael Bennacer and Fabio Miretti fired over in stoppages.

One thought on “Serie A | Juventus 0-0 Milan: Precious point”
  1. A point flatters Milan. They deserved nothing. As long as there are players like Adli, bennacer, Loftus cheek, pulisic, giroud etc are at the club, Milan will continue to regress.
