The Lega Serie A have announced a new award for Most Valuable Field, MVF, where players and staff can vote on the best pitch in the league.

As some clubs share a stadium, there will be 17 arenas to choose from throughout the season.

They’ll be assessed in terms of technical perfection, aesthetics and performance after every Serie A game.

Those who are giving their verdicts are the captain of the visiting team, the referee or fourth official, a representative of the Lega and a director of the television coverage.

They can all vote 0, 1 or 3 for the state of the turf and at the end of the season, the results will be tallied up to find the MVF.
