Oaktree’s acquisition of Inter has now increased the number of American owners in Serie A to seven.
The US fund officially confirmed their takeover of the Nerazzurri in a statement today, acquiring the club from Suning following the Chinese owners’ failure to pay back €395m in debts resulting from the loan taken out back in May 2021.
Whilst Oaktree are widely expected to quickly look for buyers for Inter, the US fund will keep control of the club for the foreseeable future. When Elliott Management took over Milan, they won a Scudetto before selling the team on to RedBird.
