Genoa had the best chances with Albert Gudmundsson and Ruslan Malinovskyi, but were unable to get more than a point against high-flying Torino.
The hosts were unbeaten in four, including impressive draws with Inter, Juventus and Bologna, but lost Caleb Ekuban, Morten Thorsby and sold Radu Dragusin to Tottenham this week. Toro had European ambitions after beating Napoli 3-0, though Nemanja Radonjic, Brandon Soppy and Perr Schuurs were still out of action.
Vanja Milinkovic-Savic used his legs to parry the Albert Gudmundsson angled drive at the near post in the opening minutes after a well-worked team move.
The goalkeeper also flew to fingertip a long-range Ruslan Malinovskyi scorcher over the bar, while Junior Messias saw his rocket go not far off target.
Duvan Zapata’s header was deflected wide off Messias from a free kick, while Koni De Winter and Johan Vasquez tested Milinkovic-Savic from corners.
Toro also threatened with a diving Antonio Sanabria header flashing wide and Alessandro Buongiorno using the outside of his arm to deflect a Raoul Bellanova header onto the upright.
Malinovskyi’s free kick was palmed off the line by Milinkovic-Savic.
Genoa 0-0 Torino
