Later on, Felipe Caicedo bagged a brace and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic got on the scoresheet as Lazio beat Serie C side Triestina 5-2.

However, Simone Inzaghi would have been annoyed to see his side concede towards the end of both halves.

Atalanta, meanwhile, coasted to a 6-0 victory over Renate, with two goals apiece for Gambian pair Musa Barrow and Ebrima Colley.

There was also a first goal in Nerazzurri colours for new signing Luis Muriel, while Ruslan Malinovskyi marked his debut with an assist.

Just two days after being hammered 5-0 by Napoli, however, third-tier Feralpisalo held Cagliari to a very credible 1-1 draw.

Former Juventus striker Alberto Cerri found the Sardinians’ equaliser with just three minutes to spare.

Elsewhere, Roberto Inglese scored on his Parma return in a 4-0 win against Maia Alta and SPAL defeated Serie B outfit Pordenone 2-0.

Finally, Caputo wasted no time in making an impact for Sassuolo, the former Empoli striker netting four in a 12-0 romp against Vipiteno.
