Not since 2003 have there been so few free kicks scored, and Pirlo was quizzed on why the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lorenzo Insigne and Hakan Calhanoglu had yet to get off the mark.

“It’s only a bad run,” the dead-ball expert told reporters.

“Among other things, it should be easier to score one now because of the vanishing spray. The wall can’t exceed the line drawn by the referee.

Juventus are the most dangerous team in this regard, with Ronaldo, Pjanic and Dybala.

“However, Napoli also have Insigne: he has a delicate left foot and can still improve.”
